Job Description
Founded in 1897, The Allendale Association is a private, not-for-profit organization dedicated to excellence and innovation in the care, treatment, education and advocacy for children and youth with serious emotional, mental and behavioral health challenges.
Allendale’s Specialized Educational Services Program is designed and dedicated to help students advance their academic skills, build self-confidence and independence, and identify and reach personal goals through an individualized K-12 therapeutic day school program.
Using Allendale’s evidence-based treatment model, the Relational Re-Enactment Systems Approach to Treatment (REStArT), school staff work closely with clinical staff to develop plans for working with each student while attending our therapeutic day school.
Our school focuses on both education and treatment that is youth and family centered with an emphasis on student interests and adaptive skills.
All staff are trained in the REStArT treatment modeland work collaboratively as a team with each student and their family to support them in their educational and life goals.
We are seeking, full time Teacher Assistant to provide direct care and supervision of clients within the milieu in accordance with the agency treatment program including Agency Behavior Treatment Plan (ABTP) and Universal Rules. Under direct supervision of Teaching staff, provides assistance in the area of instruction and classroom management to ensure a quality learning environment for the students. Under the direct supervision on the Unit Coordinator, implements individual and group programming on the units during non-school days.
This Position Will:
Provide educational and therapeutic services to students in special education within a small class, self-contained therapeutic day school. We offer excellent benefits including an Employee Educational Assistance benefit.
The Ideal Candidate Will Posess:
High School Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree
Eligible for Paraprofessional License or Substitute Teacher License
Must be at least 21 years of age
We offer a 6 month mentor program and initial and on-going training and professional development in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), our REStArT treatment model, and working in trauma informed classrooms
