We are seeking a Managing Director to lead and transform our Road Freight business in Belgium, taking full accountability for strategy, performance, and market growth in a highly competitive and complex environment.
In this role, you will be a key member of the DHL Freight leadership team Benelux, leading a multi-site organization across Belgium with full P&L responsibility.
Your key responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement short- and long-term strategies to achieve financial, operational, and market objectives.
- Drive innovation and digitalization initiatives to enhance efficiency and customer experience.
- Shape the future of DHL Roadfreight Belgium as part of our Benelux country cluster through strategic investments and forward-oriented organizational development.
Commercial Growth
- Identify and capitalize on new market opportunities in the country
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and partners.
- Champion customer-centric solutions and service excellence.
- Grow our market share in a profitable way.
Business & Operational Management
- Oversee all country operations, including Road Transport, Sales, Marketing, Procurement, with a dotted line to Finance and HR.
- Ensure compliance with global standards, local regulations, and sustainability goals.
- Manage consolidated budgets, monitor P&L performance, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Work closely with the Belgian social partners (Works Council, Committee for Prevention and Protection at Work, and Trade Union Delegations), fostering constructive social dialogue and maintaining a stable industrial relations climate.
People Leadership
- Recruit, develop, and inspire high-performing teams.
- Foster a culture of engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Act as a role model, embodying DHL values and leadership principles.
Our perfect match
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Road Freight and/or Logistics, with at least 5 years in senior leadership roles, having held P&L responsibility.
- Proven track record in managing complex and delivering sustainable, profitable growth.
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to sell.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong understanding of performance, data and measurement with demonstrated experience using data and trends to develop winning strategies
- Experience working with trade unions and managing social partner relationships.
- Fluent Dutch (Flemish) and English, with a good working knowledge of French.
- Academic background in Business, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management, MBA preferred.
