Description of Work
The state records center supervisor is responsible for:-Supervision for the operations of the State Records Center. Develops and maintains productive collaborative work relationships with internal and external state agency officials and the public.
-Providing routine consultative services by assessing and responding to client needs with regards to the preparation and transfer of records to the state records center.
-Supervising the work of others by coordinating work assignments and establishing employee expectations through the development of work plans.
-Ensures the recruitment, development, and retention of a diverse workforce.
-Working alongside staff to perform accessioning, reference and disposition duties.
-Conducting advanced and coordinative work involving the efficient and economical storage of records focusing on security, organization, and retrieval of records.
-Delivering workshops to state officials, as assigned.
-Manages vehicle logs and maintenance.
-Serves as a backup building liaison to the Department of Administration’s Facility Management Division, Work Control Center, State Capitol Police, or other emergency services agencies.
-Ensuring that facilities issues are addressed in a timely manner.
-Serves on the division’s disaster response team.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
-working with agency personnel, officials, and the public; and work with both internal and external organizations to facilitate the goals of the State Archives.
-using techniques, principles, and procedures of records management particularly in relation to the storage, retention, retrieval, and disposition of records; of the operations and functions of state government; of office management; of state and federal laws and rules and regulations pertaining to the maintenance, security, and retention of records.

- Ability to establish work rules and acceptable levels of quality and quantity of work; reviews work and measures performance of others, and develops individuals competencies.
Position/Physical Requirements
Weekly schedule for position (required):
Monday – Friday, 9:15 am – 5:45 pm
- Ability to conduct a high degree of physical labor for extended periods, including the ability to lift boxes weighing as much as 50 lbs.
- Employee must possess and maintain a valid N.C. driver’s license with acceptable driving record. Must have or obtain safety training on equipment, as required

Minimum Education and Experience

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma
and
four years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience, including one year as a lead worker;
or
equivalent combination of education and experience.
Section/Unit Description
The Records Center Supervisor administers the daily operations of the State Records Center, including the management of three storage facilities and the Records Center Unit. The unit consists
of three employees and one supervisor. The staff of the unit consults with state officials regarding the application of records retention and disposition schedules, helping to ensure the orderly transfer, storage, and destruction of records no longer required for business continuity purposes, as well as the preservation of those records of historical importance as required by G.S. 121 and 132. The State Records Center is responsible for collecting, storing, and providing references services for inactive state agency records stored in the division facilities. The unit is also responsible for preparing for disposition of records housed in the storage facilities by either preparing the records for destruction or transferring the records to the custody of the State Archives, as governed by provisions of the records retention and disposition schedule.

Veteran’s and National Guard Preference
