The Data Specialist will play a key role in optimizing payment expenses by providing deep insights into credit card fees across all card types, including interchange (IC), network, and processor fees.
About the role
The primary responsibilities for this role will be analyzing transaction-level data to identify cost drivers, pricing inefficiencies, and savings opportunities; ensuring accurate fee validation; and enabling strategic decisions that reduce overall payment processing costs. Secondary responsibilities will include data gathering, analytics, trending, interpreting, and reporting the results for all varieties of the topic within the payments ecosystem.
Roles & Responsibilities
Analytics & Strategy
Analyze credit card fees (interchange, network, and processor fees) across card types, regions, and channels
Organize a large amount of data
Perform transaction-level fee validation to identify discrepancies, overcharges, and billing inaccuracies
Identify and drive cost optimization opportunities through routing, pricing, and operational improvements
Develop reporting and dashboards to track fee trends, effective rates, and cost drivers
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to improve transparency, controls, and fee efficiency
Operational Excellence
Partner with respective team(s) to build, design, maintain, and automated dashboards and reporting
Stakeholder Engagement
Working collaboratively across multiple sets of stakeholders – Internal (Accounting, Retail Systems, D&A groups, etc.) and external (Issuers, Payment Brands, Processors, etc)

Job Requirements
Education and Relevant Experience
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably with a background with history of data analysis, or equivalent work experience
2+ years of experience in payment analytics, interchange analytics, credit card fee reconciliation, financial or operational analytics, with the ability to analyze and interpret large transactional datasets.
