The Project Engineer supports project management as they manage the execution of the construction projects. This role assists with administrative and technical services in scheduling, cost engineering, subcontract coordination, and general project administration.

Essential Job Functions

1.    Assists with construction projects, working closely with the Project Team from inception to closeout. 

2.    Responsible for the processing and distributing project documents, including plan revisions, day-to-day correspondence, billings, drafting subcontracts, taking meeting minutes, and coordinating closeout documents.
3.    Establishes and fosters positive long-term relationships with clients and subcontractors.
4.    Input the PM Schedule project information every Monday into the system and any weekly updates as needed.
5.    If the project manager requests, assist with the buyout process, including quantifying KDC-purchased items such as bike racks, Knox boxes, bollards, etc.
6.    Assists with the coordination of acquiring required permits and deposits.
7.    Communicate with subcontractors and vendors for subcontracts, proposals, requests for information (“RFIs”), change orders, billings, submittals, long lead items, and materials procurement.
8.    If the Project Manager requests, write subcontract scopes using subcontractor proposals and project drawings.
9.    Maintain project logs – RFIs, submittals, rental, labor, and change orders.  Maintain subcontractor list.
10.    If requested by the Project Manager, can create and issue RFIs by ensuring issues are qualified. 
11.    Requests/creates project Job Books. 
12.    Coordinates duplication and distribution of construction plans.
13.    Order materials and various project-related items as the Project Manager/Superintendent requested.
14.    Issue Purchase Orders to the project team.
15.    Approve invoices, verify job expense payments, and verify proper cost codes.
16.    Performs quantity takeoffs if requested by the Project Manager.
17.    Maintains and updates project documents.
18.    Maintain project drawings and track and distribute plan revisions to subcontractors.
19.    Orders temporary facilities, including storage containers, dumpsters, restrooms, equipment, and laborers.
20.    Assists with billings for customer invoicing and subcontractor payment.
21.    Coordinate with the project team; compile project information to create and issue weekly client project reports.
22.    Coordinates airline travel, hotel reservations, and vehicle rentals.
23.    Requests and assembles project close-out documents from subcontractors.  Requests as-builts from project superintendent.
24.    Attends Client meetings and prepares meeting minutes. 
25.    Upon project completion, archive project documents.
26.    Maintain a timecard with proper project information daily.
27.    Responsible for safely adhering to all aspects of our Health, Safety, and Environmental Program for self-protection and protecting co-workers, sub-contractors, the public, and the client by supporting all Company safety efforts.  
28.    Other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Skills

1.    Minimum five years experience with relevant experience or equivalent.
2.    High school diploma or equivalent.
3.    Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills.
4.    Ability to become a Notary.
5.    Ability to multi-task, have strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management skills to ensure all established deadlines are achieved
6.    Demonstrated knowledge of scheduling, cost engineering, subcontract coordination, and general project administration.
7.    Ability to read and understand plans and specifications.
8.    Ability to foster relationships with customers, owners, subcontractors, and vendors.
9.    Demonstrates strong data entry skills with accuracy.
10.    Self-starter and able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
11.    Has passion, energy, persistence, positive attitude, and enthusiasm.
12.    Proficient with computers and familiar with Microsoft Software Suite.
13.    Able to identify a need, remove barriers, and have the know-how to make things happen.
14.    Values diversity of ideas, opinions, and people. Has good common sense and applied logic.
15.    Must possess or be able to obtain an appropriate state driver’s license before employment, along with a clean driving record and reliable transportation.
 

Cirks Construction Inc. (CCI), dba KDC Construction, offers a competitive salary/hourly range of $60,252 - $75,313 – while considering the candidate’s experience and a comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees:
