We are looking for a EHS Engineer I join our team in Costa Rica. The selected candidate will be responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Management System in compliance with recognized international standards and applicable regulations. Provides strategic leadership to the EHS function, sets departmental goals and objectives, and ensures continuous improvement in workplace safety, environmental compliance, and employee health programs. Also oversees claims management, disability, rehabilitation, and employee medical case management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the EHS Management System in compliance with ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 (or equivalent), and regulatory requirements.
  • Define EHS goals, KPIs, and strategic initiatives aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Manage EHS budgets, programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Lead plant audits, risk assessments, and corrective action plans to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, federal, and international environmental, health, and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, DOT, IATA).
  • Manage environmental permits and licenses, including wastewater, stormwater, air, and chemical reporting requirements.
  • Lead Emergency Response and First Response Teams, including training, drills, and policy implementation.
  • Develop and monitor EHS performance metrics and provide reports to leadership.
  • Deliver EHS training programs and promote a strong safety culture across the organization.
  • Support employee claims, disability, rehabilitation, and medical case management processes.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health Engineering or a related field required, with 1+ years of relevant experience. Equivalent industry experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree if the candidate has 3+ years of directly related experience.
  • Written and verbal English communication skills (B2+)

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Ability to conduct audits, identify non-compliance, and implement corrective actions.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and ability to identify EHS risks in production environments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical procedures, regulations, and business documentation.
  • Effective presentation and communication skills across all organizational levels.
