Food Runner | Expo | Busser | Marriott Colorado Springs
Behind every seamless dining experience is a team working in perfect sync. Food arrives at the right table at exactly the right time. The kitchen communicates clearly with the floor. Dirty dishes disappear before the guest notices, and a freshly reset table is ready before the next party walks through the door. That level of service does not happen by accident. It happens because of the person who keeps all of it moving.
We are looking for a motivated, high-energy, and team-first Food Runner, Expo, and Busser to join our restaurant team at the Marriott Colorado Springs. This is a combined role that puts you at the center of the entire dining operation, and if you are someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, communicates well under pressure, and takes genuine pride in making service flow, we want to hear from you.
About the Role
This is a three-function role that touches every part of the restaurant operation. As a Food Runner, you are the critical link between the kitchen and the guest, making sure every plate reaches the right seat at the right time in the right condition. As an Expo, you are the quality checkpoint at the pass, ensuring every dish that leaves the kitchen meets our standard before it ever reaches the table. As a Busser, you keep the dining room turning efficiently, clearing and resetting tables so the guest experience stays seamless from one party to the next.
You will work closely with servers, bartenders, and the culinary team throughout every shift. Your communication, your speed, and your attention to detail directly impact the quality of every guest’s experience in our restaurant. This is a role where the right person makes everyone around them better, and where strong performance gets noticed.
This is also an excellent entry point into the hospitality and food and beverage industry. The skills and operational awareness you develop in this role create a strong foundation for growth into server, bar, or culinary positions within our organization.
What You’ll Be Doing
Food Running
- Running food from the kitchen to the correct tables and seats in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring every dish arrives hot, correctly plated, and without delay
- Memorizing table and seat numbers for the dining room and bar so food is delivered accurately and confidently throughout service
- Communicating clearly with servers and kitchen staff about ticket timing, course pacing, and any special requests or modifications
- Serving guests with beverages, bread, and butter at the start of their dining experience, creating a warm and welcoming first impression at the table
- Following proper standards and etiquette for room service deliveries when applicable
- Following the opening and closing side work sheet for the food runner position completely and accurately every shift
Expediting
- Serving as the quality control checkpoint at the pass, inspecting every dish before it leaves the kitchen for correct presentation, temperature, completeness, and accuracy against the ticket
- Communicating directly with the kitchen team on ticket timing, course flow, and any adjustments needed to keep service moving without gaps or delays
- Coordinating the timing of food delivery across multiple tables to ensure courses arrive together and in the correct sequence
- Managing communication between the kitchen and the front of house during service so servers always know what is coming and when
- Flagging any quality, portion, or presentation concerns before they reach the guest and working with the kitchen to correct them quickly
- Keeping the expo station clean, organized, and fully stocked with the tools and supplies needed to run a smooth pass throughout service
Bussing
- Clearing dirty table settings quickly and efficiently between guests to maintain the pace and flow of the dining room
- Resetting all service-ware promptly and consistently to the prescribed standard so tables are ready for the next guest without delay
- Maintaining the stock and cleanliness of service stations for all meal periods throughout the shift
- Transporting dirty tableware to the dishwashing area promptly to support the back-of-house team and keep the dining room running smoothly
- Assisting servers with any tasks that contribute to total guest satisfaction throughout service
- Practicing the Clean as You Go policy throughout every shift and contributing to a teamwork-first culture on the floor
- Attending monthly departmental meetings as required
What We’re Looking For
- A genuine team-first attitude; you understand that great restaurant service is a group effort and you show up for your teammates every single shift
- The ability to move quickly, stay organized, and hold your composure during high-volume service without losing accuracy or professionalism
- Clear and confident communication skills with guests, kitchen staff, servers, and supervisors
- A sharp eye for detail; in the expo function especially, you are the last line of quality control before food reaches the guest and you take that seriously
- A positive and professional demeanor in every guest and team interaction
- The ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively when the floor gets busy
- A self-directed work ethic; you see what needs to happen and you make it happen without waiting to be asked
- Flexible availability to work a variety of shifts including weekdays, weekends, AM, PM, split shifts, and holidays
- No prior restaurant experience required; we will train the right person who brings the right attitude and energy
What are we looking for?
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel food and beverage, or customer service environment is a plus but not required
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with guests, kitchen staff, and fellow team members
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a high-performing team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Ability to handle guest requests and concerns with professionalism and care
- Ability to stand, walk, and move at a brisk pace for the full duration of a shift
- Ability to carry food trays and transport tableware safely throughout service
- Comfortable with bending, reaching, and sustained physical activity throughout a full service shift
- Flexible availability to work weekdays, weekends, AM, PM, split shifts, and holidays as required by the schedule
- Professional appearance and demeanor consistent with Marriott brand standards
Physical Requirements
This is an active, on-your-feet role for the full duration of every shift. You should be comfortable standing and moving continuously, carrying food trays and tableware safely throughout the dining room and kitchen, and working at a sustained pace throughout busy service periods. Speed, physical stamina, and the ability to stay sharp and accurate while moving quickly are all important parts of this role.
Who Thrives Here
The team members who excel in this role are the ones who understand that their work is felt by every single guest, even if those guests never know their name. They run food with precision and they never put a plate at the wrong seat. They catch the imperfect dish at the pass before it reaches the table. They clear and reset a table faster than anyone else on the floor and they do it the same way every time. And they do all of it while communicating clearly, supporting their teammates, and keeping a positive energy on the floor throughout the entire shift.
They take pride in the rhythm of service. They know that when the expo station is dialed in, when the food is running clean, and when the dining room is turning smoothly, the whole team wins. If that is how you think about restaurant work, you are going to be exactly what this team is looking for.

At Pyramid Global Hospitality, we believe everyone on the team deserves to feel supported and valued no matter their role. When you join us, you gain access to a full range of benefits designed to support your life and your future, including:
