About the Role
This role is based in Greater Dublin, Republic of Ireland. The successful candidate will need to either reside within daily commute of Greater Dublin, or be in a position to travel to Dublin to work on a full time Monday to Friday basis. Hybrid and remote working will be entertained on a case-by-case basis but is largely at our clients’ discretion to entertain.
What You Will Do
Manage and be responsible for the following:
- Drafting and managing FIDIC, NEC and public sector contractual correspondence
- Preparing and recommending payment notices and / or pay less notices
- Evaluating (time and / or cost) change items (variations, claims, force majeure events, etc.)
- Participating in dispute avoidance (negotiation) and / or resolution (adjudication, etc.)
- Ensuring all contractual administration is executed within agreed governance parameters
- Implementing / maintaining a robust system for the provision of all contractual-based records
- Advising on cost-related matters in keeping with the client’s reporting procedures
- Preparing and maintaining the CBS and WBS
- Adhering to the management and administration of project-related change
- Inputting into the assessment of earned value metrics (CPI and SPI)
- Preparing project- and contract-based cost forecasts, liabilities and accruals
- Implementing / maintaining a robust system for the provision of all cost-based records
- Providing estimating advice and support to the client in keeping with best industry practice
- Preparing and / or assuring estimates and / or cost plans
- Drafting unambiguous assumptions and exclusions associated with individual estimates
- Measuring and quantifying scope from drawings and specifications
- Undertaking value engineering exercises with the wider project team
- Advising on benchmarks and qualifying the same as required
- Drafting all programme-related correspondence to protect the client’s interests
- Reporting all commercial-based KPI’s in an accurate and robust manner
- Ensuring commercial matters are managed within agreed governance parameters
- Inputting into the assessment of earned value metrics (CPI and SPI)
- Advising on the FIDIC, NEC and public sector contracts commercial implications of potential time-based mitigation measures
- Implementing / maintaining a robust system for the provision of all planning-based records
- Advising on regulated and unregulated tender events in keeping with best industry practice
- Preparing procurement and contract strategies to satisfy the client’s requirements
- Drafting robust and concise commercial-related elements of tender documentation
- Managing tender clarifications and queries in tandem with the wider project team
- Evaluating tender returns in compliance with the corresponding criteria
- Awarding contracts whilst minimising the risk of challenge by unsuccessful tenderers
- Providing risk-related advice and support to the client in keeping with best industry practice
- Liaising with the wider project team to support the risk management process
- Reviewing of commercial elements of risk registers at regular intervals
- Measuring and quantifying risks in keeping with project-related requirements
- Managing and administering contractual risk workshops
- Implementing / maintaining a robust system for the provision of all risk-based records
- Providing guidance to (and mentoring) more junior members of the commercial team
- Acting as a ‘sounding board’ for best practice with respect to technical skill and behaviour
- Leading the project team through effective decision making
- Supporting colleagues with their chartership-based endeavours (RICS, CICES, APM, etc.)
- Leading on Gardiner & Theobald’s Career Action Plan (CAP) process for direct reports
- Motivating team members to support business / project / contract targets
About You
Experience in the following contracts and sector(s) will be beneficial but is not necessarily crucial:
- Capital Works Framework (CWMF), FIDIC and NEC3/ NEC4 contracts
- Transportation Infrastructure
- Rail, especially Light Rail
