About the Opportunity:

This position supports the budgetary, accounting, and contracting needs of the Community Planning and Transportation Planning Cost Centers. Regular duties include reconciliation of costs that get distributed across programs, making payments to contractors, managing grants, purchasing card transaction approvals, and completing expenditure batches for internal services. Annual responsibilities include budget development, year end grant reconciliation and reporting, and monitoring and supporting Annexation and Plan Amendment activities. 

This position is currently eligible for hybrid work located in Hillsboro, OR.

Knowledge: 
• Financial principles and practices in local government. 
• Principles, practices, and methods of government budget preparation and administration techniques. 
 

Skills: 

• Communicate effectively orally and in writing to convey information to others.

• Research and analyze financial, budgetary, operational, and organizational problems, evaluate alternatives, and reach sound, logical, fact-based conclusions and recommendations. 

 Maintain files, records, and documentation 
• Prepare a budget.

About the Department/Division: 

The Community Planning and Transportation Planning Cost Centers are housed within the Planning & Development Services Division of Land Use & Transportation. Community Planning is responsible for the preparation, maintenance and periodic update of Washington County’s land use planning documents and ordinances, including the comprehensive framework plan, rural/natural resource plan, and all community plans. Transportation Planning covers a range of transportation policy and planning issues, transportation (roadway, transit and trail) corridor studies, individual project support and planning through the project 
development stage. 

 

Minimum Qualifications 

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in public or business administration, finance, economics, statistics, accounting or a related field that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities; OR 

  • Associate's Degree in public or business administration, finance, economics, statistics, accounting or a related field that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities; AND two (2) years of responsible professional work experience in administrative, operations, budgetary, financial, or similar analysis; OR 

  • Four (4) years of responsible work experience in administrative, operations, budgetary, and similar analyses.
