Job Description

Key Points- this is not a job for everyone
Handling mice and rats that are genetically bred for medical testing
They will be cleaning cages, feeding etc.
This is a sterile environment- candidates must take a shower and change into sterile clothes (provided) each day. Cannot leave for lunch or breaks. Food is provided.

Responsibilities:
Provide food, water, and clean housing to animals according to a rigid schedule
Maintain detailed records of animal production and inventory in precisely weighed and aged groups
Inject or medicate animals as instructed
Prepare for shipment
Work within changing shift times and rotating overtime schedule
Review integrity of the isolator unit and maintenance
Maintain work area in an organized, aseptic, and safe condition
Other duties as assigned

Requirements:
Able to handle laboratory animals and recognize abnormalities
Commitment to provide the highest quality care for laboratory animals and their offspring
Ability to perform repetitive tasks quickly and efficiently
Accurately calculate and record numbers
Good teamwork skills
Able to work in a confined environment
Work in a standing position that will require bending and stretching of arms and legs throughout regular work shift
Lift and move objects regularly throughout shift.
Avoid contact with rodent species outside of work
