Job Description
- Design the physical layout of our substations including radial collector bus arrangements
- Plan and develop drawings for production work including problem analysis, design layout and calculations.
- Understand and develop the capability of quality checking in the 3D models for interferences and constructability optimizations.
- Resolve comments on checked drawings; understand and implement the comments made.
- Complete as-builts by utilizing RFIs, ECNs and red-marked drawings from construction to develop “Conformed to Construction Records” as required.
- Seek ways to improve customer satisfaction, the quality of the work product, and operating efficiencies.
- Help develop, review, and implement guidelines and procedures to ensure design standardization and templating of our PowerFLX work.
- Stay up to date with the latest technology and industry practices and find practical applications.
- Interpret and incorporate design codes and specifications related to design requirements.
- Check design for consistency, safety, operability, quality and maintenance requirements before submitting to checking.
- Mid-Level understanding of physical substation layouts with the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplined project team including structural and electrical engineers.
- Associate degree in drafting technology, design or related fields or High School Diploma with Relevant coursework/experience
- Three (3) years of experience in related work experience
- Ability to utilize both 2D and 3D applications to prepare engineering drawings.
- Basic understanding of design software such as: PLSCAD, E3D, Plant 3D, Smartplant 3D, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Excel to develop the design deliverables. Ability to learn and effectively utilize new design software programs.

- Proactively provides guidance and direction on department design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes
- Ability to work collaboratively with others including, but not limited to Project Managers, Engineers, Designers and constructability personnel in a multi-disciplined project team environment to resolve design or drawing issues as appropriate and to accomplish our goals.
- Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
- Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
- US work authorization is a precondition of employment. The company will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work-authorized visa.
- Successful candidate will need to satisfactorily complete pre-employment drug screen and background check
- Structural, Electrical, or Substation modeling Experience in EPC Power or Substation Industry
- Aconex Document Controls software knowledge
- Clear understanding of construction and constructability practices & principles
- Working knowledge of technical aspects of the proposal and estimate process
- Owner or Client engineering background
