Position Summary
The Summer Field Intern supports field crews in the rehabilitation and repair of sewer and stormwater systems. This temporary, hands-on role provides exposure to construction operations, job site safety, and trenchless technologies.
This position is ideal for individuals seeking summer work and an introduction to the construction or infrastructure industry. The intern will work closely with experienced field technicians and supervisors while assisting with job site setup, equipment handling, and general labor tasks.
Essential Job Accountabilities
- Assist field crews with daily operations on water, sewer, and stormwater rehabilitation projects.
- Support job site setup and cleanup, including lifting, carrying, and organizing tools and materials.
- Help position and manage equipment under direction of supervisors
- Perform general labor tasks such as digging, hauling materials, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
- Observe and support pre- and post-installation activities, including basic inspections and documentation.
- Follow all safety procedures and immediately report hazards to supervisors
- Assist with loading and unloading equipment and materials at job sites and yard locations.
- Work collaboratively with crew members and supervisors to complete daily assignments efficiently.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience
- No prior construction experience required; previous outdoor labor or summer work experience is a plus.
- Interest in construction, engineering, or infrastructure industries preferred.
- Valid driver’s license preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to perform physical labor in outdoor environments, including heat, cold, and varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move materials up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions from supervisors and crew leads.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Commitment to safety and compliance with company procedures.
- Flexibility to travel locally or regionally as needed.
