Wholesale Risk - GRM Brazil manages the credit and portfolio risk for BBVA Brazil.
The area is responsible for the wholesale credit admission (Corporate & FI), having as its main task to preserve the credit quality of proposals and the portfolio, while playing a key enabler role in the business growth within the Group's risk appetite.
As part of Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB), the area interacts with local and global relationship managers, global markets, global trade finance, structuring & legal teams, among others. In addition, Wholesale Risk – GRM Brazil has a close contact with the Credit Risk teams in all footprint geographies.
The position is based in the city of São Paulo.
About the job:
The Credit & Portfolio Monitoring Manager is responsible for the oversight of a diversified portfolio of Corporate, Financial Institution and Institutional Clients. The position entails tracing the triggers defined in the Early Warning System, tracking of financial performance, ensuring compliance with loan covenants, and identifying potential credit deterioration before it becomes a default.
The position is strategic and will strengthen BBVA Brazil’s portfolio management and credit risk capabilities.
Key responsibilities include:
Financial Surveillance: Conduct periodic reviews of financial statements (Annual and Quarterly) to track performance vs. previously reported periods and against projections. Assist the analysts in updating cash flows projections if applicable.
Early Warning Signs (EWS): Implementation and management of the EWS system. Identify qualitative and quantitative red flags, such as industry downturns, macroeconomic and geopolitical impacts, shares/bonds prices among others and escalate them to risk committees.
Covenants Management: Monitor and test financial and non financial covenants, ensuring compliance with loan agreements.
Control of Credit Limits Utilization: track the evolution of credit limits assigned to clients and their utilization, ensuring that exposure will remain compliant with credit authorizations.
Responsible for the preparation of reports and presentations to business and risk committees to keep senior management informed of credit quality of the portfolio, concentration risk and Watchlist accounts.
Assist the CRO in the preparation and presentation of periodic and on-demand Portfolio Reviews.
Work in close coordination with Credit Risk and Watchlist teams in Brazil, Madrid and NY, or any other geography, as required.
Requirements
7–10 years of relevant experience in credit risk, underwriting or portfolio management, Strong understanding of credit risk principles, financial analysis, cash flow projections and portfolio monitoring.
Experience within financial services, wholesale banking, corporate banking, or structured finance environments.
Ability to assess financial statements, cash flow performance, and complex credit structures.
Experience in risk controls.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and presentation capabilities.
Ability to work effectively in fast-paced and cross-functional environments.
Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with data analysis or automation tools such as Python, VBA, SQL, or related technologies.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
Mandatory fluency in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
