Manager AI Enablement
Job Description
With 500+ professionals and 350+ business professionals, Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP (www.manatt.com), is a multidisciplinary, integrated national professional services firm known for quality and an extraordinary commitment to clients. The Firm’s groundbreaking approach—bringing together legal services, advocacy and business strategy—differentiates Manatt from its competitors and positions the Firm to provide a distinct and compelling value proposition.
Opportunity
We are seeking a Manager of AI Enablement to support and build the responsible development, deployment, and continuous improvement of artificial intelligence tools used across our law firm and consulting practices that will power this transformation.
This role will focus on training, refining, and validating AI systems—including generative AI and legal/consulting‑specific models—to ensure accuracy, ethical use, regulatory compliance, and alignment with professional standards.
You’ll design and deliver learning programs that help teams at every level understand, use and benefit from AI within their daily workflows. Working closely with Information Technology and Application Training, you’ll ensure that this capability grows hand-in-hand with technology.
The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of AI concepts, excellent analytical and communication skills, and experience working in or alongside legal, consulting, or other regulated professional services environments. This role will partner closely with attorneys, consultants, knowledge management professionals, and technology teams.
This role reports to the Chief Information Officer and will partner closely with the Firm’s Application Training Department. We believe transformation only succeeds when people have the skills, confidence and curiosity to make AI part of how they work.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
AI Enablement & Adoption
- Serve as the primary day-to-day resource for AI adoption across the Firm — available for both group-led sessions and one-on-one support tailored to the needs of individual legal, consulting, and business professionals.
- Design and deliver enablement programs that build practical AI confidence across all audiences: attorney and consulting professionals, business professionals (HR, Finance, Marketing, Operations), and Firm leadership.
- Lead AI roadshows, thought-leadership sessions, lunch-and-learns, and hands-on workshops that engage, educate, and inspire.
- Create and curate demos, use-case showcases, and real-world success stories that make the value of AI concrete and compelling.
- Partner closely with the Application Training Department to ensure enablement programs are coordinated, consistent, and amplified across the Firm.
- Continuously measure training effectiveness, adoption rates, and learner confidence — and refine content and formats based on what works.
AI Tool Support & Technical Fluency
- Develop deep working knowledge of the Firm's AI tool ecosystem, including Microsoft Copilot / M365 AI, Harvey, iManage AI features and other third-party legal tools, and Manatt's custom-built AI systems.
- Test AI systems for reliability, consistency, and practical usability across real-world professional scenarios.
- Identify gaps, inaccuracies, or bias in AI outputs and recommend improvements to the AI Solutions Architect and AI Engineering team.
- Act as a liaison between end users and the AI Solutions Architect, AI Engineers, and Data Engineering team — translating on-the-ground feedback into actionable input for tool development and refinement.
- Monitor AI performance metrics and user feedback to drive ongoing enhancements.
- Stay current on emerging AI capabilities, risks, and best practices relevant to legal and consulting services.
Content Quality & Domain Expertise
- Review AI-generated content for accuracy, clarity, tone, and alignment with legal and consulting professional standards.
- Ensure outputs reflect appropriate professional judgment, risk awareness, and client-ready language.
- Advise IT leadership when AI output deviates from expected quality, and work with subject matter experts — attorneys, consultants, and researchers — to validate and improve results.
- Develop and curate high-quality prompts, training data, and evaluation criteria relevant to legal and consulting work.
Ethics, Risk & Compliance
- Apply ethical AI principles, confidentiality requirements, and data privacy standards to all AI-related work.
- Help ensure AI use complies with applicable laws, professional responsibility rules, and internal Firm policies.
- Document training methodologies, decisions, and controls to support governance, auditability, and continuous improvement.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with IT, Application Training, Research Services, Knowledge Management, and other Firm departments to integrate AI tools into everyday workflows.
- Translate technical AI concepts into clear, practical, jargon-free guidance for non-technical professionals.
- Build strong relationships across the Firm — becoming a trusted, go-to resource that people want to engage with.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in AI training, data annotation, model evaluation, knowledge management, learning & development, or a closely related field.
- A balanced profile: genuine technical fluency with AI tools and concepts (prompt engineering, LLMs, model evaluation) combined with a passion for helping people learn and adopt new technology.
- Proven experience designing and delivering training or enablement programs — ideally in a digital transformation, technology adoption, or professional services context.
- Exceptional communication skills: the ability to explain complex AI concepts clearly and engagingly to a wide range of audiences, both verbally and in writing.
- Experience working with or alongside legal, consulting, financial services, or other regulated professional environments.
- Strong project and process management skills with a consistent ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple concurrent priorities.
- Extreme attention to detail, strong professional judgment, and an unwavering commitment to confidentiality.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and working familiarity with Microsoft 365 AI features.
- A collaborative, can-do spirit — someone who brings energy and optimism to their team and to every room they walk into.
Preferred
- Direct experience in a law firm, consulting firm, or other regulated professional services environment.
- Hands-on familiarity with tools such as Harvey, iManage, Microsoft Copilot, Westlaw AI, or similar legal/consulting AI platforms.
- Experience with generative AI, large language models (LLMs), prompt engineering, and AI evaluation frameworks.
- Understanding of legal, compliance, or risk management concepts.
- Exposure to AI governance, responsible AI frameworks, or ethics-in-AI initiatives.
- Experience collaborating with both highly technical and non-technical stakeholders simultaneously.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Law, Business, or a related discipline — or equivalent practical experience.
Why Join Us
- Be part of a forward‑thinking professional services firm shaping the responsible use of AI.
- Work at the intersection of technology, law, and consulting.
- Influence how AI is safely and effectively embedded into high‑impact client work.
- Collaborative culture with opportunities for growth and learning.
