Who we are
Purpose of the job / project
We want you to play a key role in supporting the timely and high-quality delivery of project milestones and meeting objectives of our current subsidy projects funded by the European Commission (EC). You will work closely with a diverse team of data analysts, curators, data scientists, data stewards, data engineers, software developers, DevOps and scrum masters. Together, you will deliver those projects to the funders.
As a project manager on projects, your primary role will be to be responsible for managing the progress and reporting of ongoing subsidy innovation projects with limited duration (2-4 years) and defined finishing time. You will organise project meetings, events and contribute to project reviews and dissemination. You will also participate in setting up the project management process, tooling, best practice, quality framework, and standard operating procedures that are relevant to those projects.

What you will do
- Support project leaders in project management
- Manage project implementation, including communication with external project partnerships
- Follow and manage project timelines, identify implementation risks, issues and conflicts, and work on solutions
- Prepare and submit monitoring reports to responsible managing authorities
- Manage communication with third parties and stakeholders during project implementation, including project meetings and events
- Manage the preparation of deliverables and ensure their quality
- Support applications, technical proposals, and budget planning under EC and national research and innovation programmes
- Contribute to the project management frameworks and support the implementation of them
- Provide training to both internal and external teams
- Coach less experienced team members
Who you are
Required
Optional (considered as advantages)
- MSc or PhD in natural science, technology or social science with technical skills
- 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in technical project management
- At least 3 years’ experience of national and European Union (EU)-level innovation project management
- Excellent command of office software (MS Excel, Word, SharePoint, Power BI, Google Workspace, Webex/Teams & other collaboration tools)
- Excellent command of project management tools (e.g. Jira or similar)
- Good knowledge and experience in Agile methodologies and organisations (SAFe in particular)
- Excellent verbal communication skills in English
- Excellent writing skills (documentation, reports, etc.)
- Travel availability (Schengen and non-Schengen, 2-3 times a year)
- Responsibility, consistency, and adherence to strict deadlines
- Administrative, organisational, and communication skills
Optional (considered as advantages)
- Knowledge of project reporting (both technical and financial)
- Knowledge of a second European language (especially German or French)
- Received formal project management training or otherwise proven knowledge of project management methods
- Basic understanding of GDPR in the research and development domain
- Good working knowledge of a project management framework such as the PM2 methodology (https://www.pm2alliance.eu/)
- Working knowledge of data processing tools
- Working knowledge of Atlassian Solutions (e.g. Confluence, Jira Service Management)
- Experience in managing EC projects in a coordinator’s institute
