Job Description

The Senior Site Quality Specialist is responsible for the implemented quality program on projects to confirm projects are fabricated/installed, examined, tested, and documented in accordance with the project specifications, governing codes of construction, and contract documents.

  • Provide guidance to quality personnel relative to the scope, complexity, and logistics of work.
  • Support specification reviews to develop the Construction Quality Plan for the project.
  • Effectively communicate with project personnel to ensure specifications and code inspections are understood and met.
  • Participate in preparatory meetings to communicate contractual requirements to subcontractors to ensure quality objectives are achieved.
  • Proactively evaluate the implementation of the quality program (e.g. document management, material management, special processes, etc.) and when required, bring the attention of noncompliant processes to the project team.
  • Inspect fabricated/installed products and services to confirm they are in compliance with project specifications and drawings and results documented, as required.
  • Proactively evaluate installation activities and participate in project schedule look-ahead meetings to identify and discuss any upcoming complexities with the project team.
  • Evaluate quality verification documents to confirm all attributes are addressed as they are issued and confirm compliance with the specifications and drawings.
  • Generate accurate inspection reports daily. Update inspection databases to accurately track inspection status, results, and metrics.
  • Participate in the walk-down and turnover process and when required, perform and document acceptance inspections.
  • Lead quality meetings with client and subcontractors, if required.
  • Recommend enhancements and changes to the Quality Management System.
  • Confirm conditions adverse to quality (nonconformances) are identified, segregated, documented, dispositioned, and tracked through acceptance to closure.
  • Lead the development of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) with collaboration from the project team and confirm their implementation.
  • Review and confirm compliance of applicable materials, procedures, subcontractor quality submittals, and ITPs.
  • Assign Welding Procedure Specification to the weldments, if applicable.
  • Test and qualify welders in accordance with company welder testing procedures and code requirements, if applicable.
  • Monitor the implementation of the site welding program.
  • Manage and track welder to weld traceability.
  • Proactively communicate quality opportunities or concerns to the project team.
  • Understand and interpret discipline-specific codes, specifications, and client requirements.
  • Manage tracking project quality metrics.
  • Manage the project turnover deliverables are populated and correspond to project activities.
  • Lead Quality orientation on a project site, as needed.
  • Comply with all Safety & Health requirements and participate in the Task Safety Observations (TSO's) to ensure adherence to safety standards.
  • Responsible for coaching, training and mentoring field quality personnel.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to less experienced staff.
  • Responsible for QA/QC process adherence.
  • Responsible for compliance with company and site safety policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • High School Diploma/GED and 11 years relevant experience in construction and fabrication quality management required or
  • Associate Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Welding Technology, Nondestructive Examination, or related field and 9 years relevant experience in construction and fabrication quality management required or
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, Welding Technology, Nondestructive Examination, or related field and 7 years relevant experience in construction and fabrication quality management required.
  • Previous experience with welder testing and qualification in accordance with applicable codes required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be detailed oriented.
  • Advanced technical writing skills required.
  • Certified Welding Inspector-AWS required.
