Job Description
Wayzata Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and organized Community Ed Specialist to join our team. This position plays a vital role in supporting and growing our adult and youth programming, ensuring a "world-class education" that helps every student and community member thrive.
Position Overview
- Title: Community Ed Specialist
- Classification: Unaffiliated Level 2, Full-Time, Year-Round
- Salary Range (2025-2026): $68,557 � $83,494 (based on experience/step)
- Reports to: Youth Classes and Engagement Manager
- Hours: 40 hours per week; includes flexible hours.
- Note: This is a full-time, year-round position with variable hours depending on the schedule of events. Hours may include nights and weekends.
- Start Date: August 3, 2026
Primary Responsibilities
The Community Ed Specialist is responsible for the development, implementation, and marketing of diverse community programs.
1. Program Development and Management
- Plan, implement, and evaluate a broad range of classes, camps, and clubs for both youth and adults.
- Recruit, hire, and supervise instructors and provide support to program volunteers.
- Collaborate with district personnel and community organizations to enhance program offerings.
- Schedule activities and provide on-call and/or in-person support during program hours.
2. Communications and Marketing
- Partner with the Marketing Specialist to market programs and increase participation.
- Develop content for print materials (seasonal catalogs).
- Promote and deliver high-quality customer service to all community members.
3. Data Management and Reporting
- Conduct surveys and analyze registration and evaluation data to make data-driven recommendations for program improvements.
- Adhere to program budget, purchasing processes.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree preferred; minimum of two years of college required.
- Experience: At least two years of related professional experience in schools or community education is preferred.
- Licensing: Must possess a valid MN driver's license.

Key Skills & Knowledge
- Technology Proficiency: Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Suite; familiarity with registration platforms like Arux is a plus.

- Organization: Proven ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Soft Skills: Must be a self-starter with a collaborative mindset, capable of maintaining professional composure in challenging situations.
