Overview
Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical
Location: Central Maine Medical Center, Lewiston, ME
Full-time | Nights | 7p–7a | 12-Hour Shifts

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides safe, patient-centered care utilizing the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) within the Medical-Surgical unit. Responsible for direct patient care, care coordination, and clinical assessment in an acute care environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct care to post-operative orthopedic and medical-surgical patients
- Perform comprehensive assessments and monitor patient condition and recovery
- Manage pain control, mobility, and post-surgical care (joint replacement, fracture care)
- Communicate changes in condition, diagnostics, and treatment response to physicians
- Administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments per orders
- Educate patients and families on recovery, mobility, and discharge planning
- Support and guide nursing staff to maintain standards of care
- Respond promptly to changes in condition
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure HIPAA compliance
Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
1. Current and valid state RN License.
2. Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
3. Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current preferred.
4. Previous Acute Care hospital experience preferred.
5. Ventilator Management experience preferred.
6. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
