Role Responsibilities and Duties:
Training and Coaching
- Assists in orientation of new staff.
- In partnership with the Maternal and Child Health Medical Director, assesses staff training needs
- Sources and develops professional opportunities and continuing education activities for Healthy Start Systems staff.
- Supervises subordinates as required.
- Ensures staff have an equitable approach to maternal and child health that incorporates BPHC racial justice principles.
- Works to help BPHC advance as an antiracist organization by meeting or exceeding the standards set by the BPHC Anti-Racism Policy.
Outreach and Community Engagement
- Participates in and provides clinical support for special projects and initiatives as requested.
- Participates in staff conferences, research activities, and meetings with community based or other agencies as requested.
- Collaborates with others throughout BPHC and birthing providers to address health disparities in maternal child health.
- Provides education and outreach on maternal child health issues to health care providers, agencies, and community groups throughout the city.
- Acts as a resource on maternal and child health-related issues for Healthy Start Systems and other BPHC staff, non-BPHC providers, and community groups.
Quality Assurance and Improvement
- Assists with development of data collection tools and ensures complete and accurate collection of data.
- Identifies or develops maternal and child health resources.
- Supports assessments of program outcomes, including client satisfaction.
- Supports the standardization of protocols and procedures for the division.
- Provides nursing support for Healthy Start Systems such as clinical assessments, growth and development and program protocols.
- May be required to perform duties of other nurses.
- Performs other duties as required.
