Position Overview

Reporting to the Lead Controls Engineer and working within a cross-functional engineering team, the Controls Engineer is responsible for analyzing plant processes, improving automation systems, and supporting production assets to optimize operational performance in aseptic processing and packaging environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, robotics, motion control, instrumentation, industrial networks, MES, and data collection systems. 
  • Manage upgrades, overhauls, and conversions of aseptic filling and process lines. 
  • Provide technical training for operation and maintenance teams. 
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and maintenance to improve production efficiency and system performance. 
  • Participate in rotating after-hours engineering support. 
  • Ensure compliance with plant electrical controls standards and change management processes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent technical experience. 
  • 2–5 years of controls engineering or related industrial experience. 
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation PLC/HMI systems. 
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills. 
  • Experience with processing and packaging equipment installation, commissioning, and support. 
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. 
  • Experience with aseptic processing and packaging systems. 
  • Knowledge of Tetra Pak and/or Stork aseptic filling equipment. 
  • Experience with Beckhoff PLC/HMI, Fanuc robotics, VFDs, safety systems, and vision inspection systems. 
  • Familiarity with NFPA standards, FDA regulations, and AutoCAD.
