Job Description
The Driver Lead will oversee the distribution and transportation of goods both between branches and from the branches to the customer in their assigned region. Oversees delivery of orders to customers using Johnstone-provided vehicles as needed. Leads assigned region’s delivery team by ensuring daily delivery routes are executed accurately and on time. Assists Delivery and Route Manager to meet goals and objectives for delivery and customer experience. This leader demonstrates a high level of communication, leadership, and planning skills as well as the ability to make effective decisions and manage quality service.

Essential Functions:
- Ensure daily delivery routes provided by the Delivery & Route Manager are executed accurately and timely
- Assist with daily deliveries based on business needs
- Facilitate driver training for new and existing drivers as needed
- Provide feedback to Delivery & Route Manager to help maximize vehicle utilization and minimize costs
- Managing delivery drivers’ performance within assigned region
- Assist Delivery/Route Manager with personnel needs including talent acquisition, discipline, and performance coaching
- Ensure regional delivery drivers meet specified performance standards daily
- Conduct weekly check-ins with regional drivers via the ADP Standout platform
- Conduct annual performance appraisals with regional drivers which includes goal setting
- Manage relationships with drivers, couriers, and others to help resolve shipping issues
- Takes corrective action and recognizes and rewards employees as needed
- Ensures adequate staffing levels to meet business needs by establishing work schedules and managing time-off requests
- Evaluate current processes and suggest any appropriate improvements to increase efficiency and enhance the customer experience
- Coordinate vehicle maintenance and upkeep activities for all delivery vehicles in the assigned region
- Administer company protocols in the event of vehicle accidents
- Assist Delivery & Route Manager with DOT and Safety compliance for all assigned regional drivers and vehicles
- Safely operates vehicles, forklift, pallet jack, and other company machinery.

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or a GED required and a Vocational School Degree/Certificate, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- One to three years of experience and/or training, or a combination of education and experience
