Job Title: Labor & Employment Counsel
Location: Washington, DC metropolitan area strongly preferred but will consider highly qualified remote candidates

POSITION SUMMARY:
CareMetx is looking for a highly skilled and motivated corporate labor and employment attorney with significant employment law and immigration experience to provide comprehensive legal counsel and support on labor, employment, and immigration matters. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, the successful candidate will play a key role in advising the company on various legal issues related to workforce management and immigration compliance.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide legal guidance and support on labor and employment law matters, including but not limited to hiring, termination, discrimination, harassment, wage and hour compliance, employee relations, and workplace policies in collaboration with the HR/People team; manage or oversee employment-related agency charges (EEOC, DOL, NLRB) and litigation with outside counsel
- Conduct legal research, analyze complex legal issues, and provide strategic advice and recommendations to management and HR/People teams.
- Review and draft employment-related agreements, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including HR/People team, management, and other departments, to address legal issues, minimize risks and implement best practices.
- Represent the company in legal proceedings, negotiations, and interactions with government agencies, external legal counsel, and other third parties.
- Stay updated on developments in labor, employment, and immigration law and provide training and updates to internal stakeholders as needed.
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and admission to the Bar in a relevant jurisdiction.
- Minimum seven (7) years of experience practicing labor and employment law, with exposure to immigration matters.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local labor, employment, and immigration laws and regulations; experience in healthcare or pharma industries is a plus.
- Experience advising corporate clients on a wide range of labor, employment, and immigration issues, with demonstrated ability to manage EEOC charges, DOL inquiries, and employment-related disputes.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior in-house legal experience at a healthcare, technology, or similarly regulated company
- Experience with corporate immigration matters (H-1B, PERM, I-9 compliance)
- Experience supporting remote and multi-state workforce
- Familiarity with employee data privacy matters and HIPAA

- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Team player with a collaborative and proactive approach to problem-solving.
