Operates basic saw types such as pop-up, miter, web saws, etc. to cut planks, timbers, or boards according to work orders by performing the following duties. What You'll Do: Reviews work order to determine cut(s) to be made.
Adjusts saw for required cuts.
Adjusts speed of saw and feed rolls.
Observes automatic feeding of lumber to saw or pushes end of lumber into feed rolls.
Stacks cut lumber after processing.
Advises supervisor of dull saw blades. Minimum Requirements: Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Work Environment / Physical Activity: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
