BrightQuest Treatment Centers in San Diego, CA is hiring an Executive Director!
A growing residential behavioral health program is seeking an experienced Executive Director to lead operations, clinical alignment, and organizational performance. This role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day management, driving financial sustainability, supporting high-quality client care, and fostering a strong, accountable team culture.
Working closely with executive leadership, the Executive Director plays a key role in shaping strategic direction, strengthening referral relationships, and ensuring the program operates in compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards. This individual will serve as a visible leader both internally and externally, representing the program within the broader professional community.
Key Responsibilities
Organizational Leadership & Strategy
- Lead overall program operations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and long-term strategy
- Partner with executive leadership to develop and execute strategic, operational, and financial plans
- Monitor performance metrics and implement improvements to enhance outcomes and efficiency
- Stay informed on industry trends and integrate best practices into programming
Team & Culture Development
- Build, lead, and support a multidisciplinary team across clinical and operational departments
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high performance
- Oversee hiring, onboarding, performance management, and staff development
- Ensure clear communication and alignment across all levels of the organization
Clinical & Program Oversight
- Support the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based treatment services
- Oversee program structure, group curriculum, and ancillary services
- Ensure appropriate care coordination, discharge planning, and family engagement
- Maintain awareness of clinical outcomes and support continuous improvement efforts
Financial & Operational Management
- Manage program budget, expenses, and resource allocation
- Monitor financial performance and make data-informed decisions
- Oversee revenue cycle components as needed, including familiarity with payer relationships and insurance authorization processes
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations
- Maintain readiness for accreditation and licensing requirements
- Identify and mitigate risks related to safety, compliance, and operations
- Uphold ethical standards, confidentiality, and professional boundaries
External Relations & Growth
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with referral partners and stakeholders
- Represent the program in the community and professional networks
- Support outreach, reputation management, and program growth initiatives
Qualifications
Required:
- Active clinical licensure (e.g., PhD, PsyD, LCSW, LMFT, LPC, or equivalent)
- Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in behavioral health or residential treatment
- Strong understanding of mental health and co-occurring disorders
- Experience managing teams, budgets, and program operations
- Experience working with insurance authorization processes and payer requirements
- Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
Preferred:
- Advanced degree (e.g., MA, MBA, PhD, PsyD)
- Experience with evidence-based modalities such as CBT, DBT, or trauma-informed approaches
- Familiarity with both 12-step and non-12-step recovery models

Additional Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet background screening requirements

- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings or weekends
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This role is primarily based in a residential treatment setting and involves a combination of administrative and on-site leadership responsibilities. The position may require extended periods of sitting, walking throughout the facility, and occasional lifting or movement of up to 50 pounds.
