Job Description
The Pre-Owned Service Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and preparing used commercial mowing and turf equipment for resale. This role ensures all pre-owned units meet company quality, safety, and performance standards before delivery to customers.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; drive; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. There is frequent holding and grasping with the hands. Lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbs. required on a regular basis. The employee will drive a company vehicle.

Work is performed indoors in a shop environment and outdoors on equipment. There is exposure to loud noise levels, vibration, chemicals, dust, mechanical hazards, and moving objects or other vehicles. May be exposed to cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions, chemicals, mechanical hazards, and hazardous physical substances, gas and/or fumes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive inspections and evaluations of pre-owned equipment
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine issues accurately
- Complete repairs and refurbishments including:
- Engine and driveline service
- Hydraulic system troubleshooting and repairs
- Electrical system diagnostics
- Deck and cutting system repairs
- Completion of required safety checks
- Document condition reports and repair recommendations for each unit
- Work closely with manager to prioritize units for resale
- Maintain accurate service records and usage of parts
- Follow all safety guidelines and company procedures
- Safely and effectively, use all service and repair tools: hoist, welder, test equipment, pressure washer, compressors, power tools, etc.
- Safely use forklift.
- Work as a team in successfully completing the job.
- Perform other duties as necessary and requested to successfully complete the job.

Education and/or Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Technical degree (2yr.) or equivalent experience required.
- Strong knowledge of: Gas and diesel engines, Hydraulic systems, and Electrical diagnostics
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic ability
- Attention to detail and quality workmanship
- Ability to work independently and manage workload
- Time management and prioritization skills
- Team-oriented with good communication skills
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving mindset
