Position Summary
The Assistant General Manager supports the General Manager in overseeing all on-site operations and achieving financial and operational objectives for the community. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate reporting, strong resident satisfaction, and compliance with company policies and applicable laws, while helping drive overall property performance.
What You’ll Do
Operations & Financial Support
- Partner with the General Manager to maximize revenue and manage expenses within budget
- Ensure accuracy of financial data, reporting, and revenue-related analytics
- Oversee rent collection processes and coordinate with collection agencies as needed
- Ensure all billing and revenue entries are accurate within property management systems
Resident Experience & Service
- Respond to resident service requests and ensure timely resolution with maintenance team
- Maintain high levels of resident satisfaction through proactive communication and follow-up
- Support resolution of resident concerns and ensure proper documentation and follow-through
Leasing & Property Oversight
- Assist with leasing activities including tours, applications, and lease execution
- Inspect units, common areas, and property conditions to ensure standards are maintained
- Support unit turns and readiness for scheduled move-ins
Team & Operational Execution
- Partner with the General Manager to implement and maintain operational standards
- Assist in training and developing on-site team members
- Support scheduling and coordination of team activities and responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to safety policies, inspections, and key control procedures
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal housing and employment laws
- Support eviction processes in coordination with legal counsel when required
- Compile and analyze data for reporting and operational insights
- Stay informed on industry trends and local market conditions
Resident Engagement
- Support planning and execution of resident events and programming
- Partner with Resident Life teams to enhance community engagement
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform other duties as assigned to support community success
What We’re Looking For
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in property management
- Strong understanding of property operations and financial fundamentals
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact across all levels
- Strong customer service and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and property management systems
- Demonstrated leadership and team support capabilities
- Ability to obtain any required state leasing license within required timeframe
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience in student housing or multifamily environments
Work Schedule
- Primarily Monday–Friday
- Extended hours, evenings, and weekends required based on business needs
Physical Requirements
- Ability to move throughout the property and conduct inspections
- Frequent use of computer and office equipment
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, phone, and written formats
- Occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to travel locally and occasionally overnight as needed
