Job Summary:
Responsible for calibrating monitoring, reporting and maintaining calibration status on test and inspection equipment used in the manufacture of tubular products at PTC.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Record calibration test data, applying statistical quality control procedures as applicable.
Enters data into computer for analysis and or tracking.
Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve required accuracy.
Reviews calibration status to initiate calibrations within scheduled frequency.
Performs Product audits and Process audits within the plant.
Verifies straightness on critical jobs and maintains straightness gages.
Performs vendor claim investigations and expediting of evaluation of samples.
Supports inspection activities by providing necessary calibrated inspection tools.
Investigates customer disputes with respect to straightness and dimensions.
Assists in the laboratory for evaluation of steel reject samples and steel claims.
Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Education and/or Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED; with a minimum of 5 years in quality control or related experience and/or training.

Skills and Abilities:
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals using correct grammar and spelling. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, etc.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Must be computer literate and able to work with programs such as Word, Excel, etc., and be able to learn and use HP programs such as e-mail, established programs, etc.
Must be able to work independently, be highly motivated, and work as part of a team.
