MAIN FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION
FunctionDescription (What, How, Why, For what purpose, Means, Results.%
A. Lead Continuous Improvement & Lean Projects.Leading Kaizen events, waste reduction initiatives, and Lean implementation projects that improve productivity, quality, flow, safety, cycle time and cost. Identify improvement opportunities, develop solutions and follow through with implementation and sustainment. Projects are expected to deliver hard savings20%
B. Analyze Processes and Operational Data with Lean perspectiveAnalyze data (KPIs, OEE, lead time, waste, scrap, capacity vs demand, etc) to understand where problems exist and to quantify the impact of improvements. Tools include value stream mapping, Pareto charts, root cause analysis, and time studies20%
C. Coach & Train Teams on Lean Tools and Behaviors (SBOS)With ~5 years of experience you’re expected to enable others, training operations, technicians, supervisors and leaders in Lean principles (5S, standard work, PDCA, problem solving), facilitation skills, and daily continuous improvement practices. Helps to get to Bronze certification and beyond based on Shingo standards20%
D. Facilitate Cross-Functional CollaborationLean work requires alignment across production, quality, maintenance, supply chain and engineering. Facilitate meetings, collaborate with stakeholders to scope improvement projects, and help build alignment on goals and priorities20%
E. Support Lean Strategy Deployment & Daily Management SystemsSBOS engineer participates in strategy deployment and daily management routines helping develop the deployment plan, defining success criteria, setting targets, and supporting consistent performance management through visual boards, audits and structured problem solving20%

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Associated with the Function
KPIUNIT OF MEASUREMENTDESCRIPTION
Productivity Improvement Impact$Annual validated savings vs target. Example: $1.2M delivered vs $1.0M target. % of pipeline realized. Leads and delivers Lean projects and Kaizens that reduce waste, improve flow, and generate measurable cost, capacity, or efficiency improvements aligned with SBOS roadmap.
Lead Time / Flow Reduction%% reduction in lead time, WIP reduction %, OEE improvement %, cycle time reduction. Conducts value stream mapping and flow optimization initiatives to improve throughput, reduce bottlenecks, and stabilize processes.
Problem Solving Effectiveness%% of problems closed within 30/60 days. Recurrence rate reduction. A3 quality audit score. Facilitates structured problem solving using A3, root cause analysis, and PDCA to eliminate recurring issues and build organizational capability.
Lean Capability DevelopmentQTY# of associates trained. Certification completion rate. Trains and coaches leaders and associates in Lean tools, daily management, 5S, standard work, and SBOS behaviors to create self sustaining improvement culture.
SBOS System Deployment & Sustainment%Audit score of SBOS elements. % execution index completion vs roadmap. Process confirmation adherence rate. Supports deployment of SBOS systems such as Daily Management, Policy Deployment, Standard Work, and Process Confirmation to ensure consistency and long term sustainment.
