Budget Analyst (Army / Acquisition) - EW&C

Position Summary

MAG Aerospace is seeking an experienced Senior Budget Analyst who provides expert-level budget execution, formulation, and financial management support within a SETA environment.

 

This role is responsible for complex budget activities, leading junior analysts, and ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial operations across multiple funding types. The Senior Budget Analyst works closely with Program Analysts, acquisition personnel, and leadership to support planning, execution, and long‑range financial strategy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyze and formulate program budget requirements and prepare, monitor, justify, and defend budgets.
  • Track acquisition schedules, program milestones, obligations, and expenditures during the execution phase.
  • Initiate and track procurement and budget documentation throughout the budget and acquisition cycles.
  • Support and develop a variety of budgetary reports, from simple data calls to complex analytical products.
  • Manage budget execution using GFEBS and LMP; coordinate funding requirements with Program Analysts.
  • Execute RDT&E, PROC, OMA, and FMS funding.
  • Create execution documents including MIPRs, PWDs, G‑Invoicing Purchase Requests, and Status of Funds reports.
  • Validate accuracy of budget estimates using extensions, averages, and trend analysis.
  • Monitor activity accounts to verify timely execution aligned with work plans and regulatory requirements.
  • Resolve execution discrepancies including IDOCs, Unmatched Transactions, and Unliquidated Obligations.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on budget requirements and interpretation of financial guidance.
  • Review long‑range budget and program requirements to ensure compliance with DoD policy.

Requirements

  • A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience providing budget analysis for multiple large projects.
  • Experience in DoD budget formulation, execution, and financial management.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with GFEBS and LMP. Strong understanding of federal appropriations law and execution of RDT&E, PROC, OMA, and FMS funds.
  • Experience developing procurement and financial execution documents (MIPRs, PWDs, PRs, etc.).
  • Proven ability to analyze financial data, identify discrepancies, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Strong analytical skills to include trend analysis and budget validation techniques.
  • Ability to manage multiple funding types across complex program portfolios.
  • Experience supporting acquisition programs and tracking financial milestones.
  • MS Office proficiency with advanced Excel knowledge and experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing complex budget documentation and briefings.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and guide junior analysts.
  • Requires daily on-site presence in a SIPR room to support classified financial management activities and coordination with program teams.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Standard Operations and Maintenance Army Research and Development System (SOMARDS), General Fund Enterprise Business System (GFEBS), Automated Time Attendance and Production System (ATAAPS), Defense Travel System (DTS)
  • DoD FM Certification or DAWIA Business/Financial Management Certification.
  • Experience supporting acquisition programs and program management offices.

Clearance: Secret with ability to obtain TS

 

Education and Certification Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree, Accounting Preferred -Ten (10) additional years of related experience can be substituted for bachelor’s degree.

Salary at MAG Aerospace is determined by various factors including but not limited to location, the particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $110,000 to $135,000 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of MAG's total compensation package for employees.
