The Business Office Manager function is responsible for overseeing timely follow-up and collection of third-party payer receivables to ensure maximum reimbursement and minimal aging of accounts. This role supervises billers, collectors, and financial counselors; serves as the primary liaison between the facility and third-party payers; and supports month-end close processes. Responsibilities include reviewing and troubleshooting accounts, processing and submitting weekly and monthly reports, preparing required logs, training and supporting staff, and ensuring adherence to departmental, facility, and corporate policies. Working knowledge of hospital billing, insurance regulations, and revenue cycle operations is required.
Job Related Skills
- Knowledge of hospital billing and collection workflows, including third-party payer follow-up.
- Knowledge of general ledger accounts and adjustment processes.
- Knowledge of report preparation, logs, and reconciliation for month-end close.
- Knowledge of computer systems and software applications, including basic MS Excel.
- Skill in organizing, supervising, and prioritizing workloads to meet strict deadlines.
- Skill in reviewing staff work and recommending performance improvements.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, staff, leadership, and third-party payers.
- Ability to demonstrate tact, professionalism, resourcefulness, patience, and dedication.
- Ability to accept direction and adhere to facility, departmental, and corporate policies and procedures.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of employee and patient information.
- Ability to adapt communication and service delivery to various patient age groups (adult and geriatric).
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to meet reporting and month-end close timelines.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively when resolving issues or addressing urgent situations.
Your Experience Matters What we’re looking for:
- Education & Licensure: High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of collection experience in a healthcare setting is required or any combination of education, training, or experience in a business office environment. Hospital experience highly preferred. Working knowledge and understanding of insurance rules and regulations is needed.
Basic familiarity with MS Excel. - Additional Requirements: Excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor is needed.
Detail oriented and possessing strong time management skills is necessary in order to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. May be required to work occasional overtime and flexible hours. Weekend/holiday work will be required if the first day of the month falls on a Saturday or Sunday.

Compensation:
This is a full-time role and the expected compensation range for this role is $65,000.00 - $75,000.00, plus bonus eligible. We’re eager to engage with all qualified candidates, and consideration will be provided to experience and skill level. Join us as our Business Office Manager!
