Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and patient-focused Surgical Coordinator to support a fast-paced, multi-specialty orthopedic practice. This role serves as a critical liaison between patients, physicians, internal departments, hospitals, and external providers, ensuring seamless coordination of care.

The ideal candidate demonstrates strong organizational and critical thinking skills, proficiency with medical terminology, and the ability to manage complex surgical schedules across multiple facilities. Success in this role requires proactive communication, accuracy in clinical documentation, and a commitment to delivering an exceptional patient experience while supporting physicians and care teams in a high-volume environment.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Function as a liaison between patient and physician, ensuring clear and effective communication.

  • Utilize EPIC to document all patient updates and maintain accurate records.

  • Manage the physician's schedule, including meetings and surgical cases, to optimize time and efficiency.

  • Schedule surgeries across multiple facilities, coordinating with relevant departments to ensure availability and readiness.

  • Arrange and coordinate hospital admissions and inpatient surgeries, ensuring all necessary preparations are made.

  • Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success and efficiency of the medical team.

Required Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED.


Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree, medical certification, or medical licensure preferred.


Required Experience:

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a medical support role is required.

  • Understand and utilize medical terminology.


Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

  • Excellent time management skills.

  • Strong organizational skills to schedule patient appointments/surgeries.

  • Ability to understand orthopedic subspecialties and services.


Preferred Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR/EMR) systems preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage time efficiently, work independently, and collaborate as part of a team.

  • Strong attention to detail with effective problem-solving skills.
