Job Title: Clinical Trainer (MA/XRT/LVN/RN)
Classification: Non-exempt/Full-Time
Reports to: Director of Operations Training

Job Summary
The Clinical Trainer is responsible for maintaining and developing the following key performance areas: clinical practice, education and research, quality improvement, and management, professional practice, and development.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
• Educates clinical team members, providing them with the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful caregivers within their scope of practice.
• Initiates clinical skills development programs. Monitors trends and implements educational strategies to ensure compliance with quality standards and parameters.
• Assists in developing clinical policies and procedures as it relates to evidence-based patient care, incorporating evidence-based research and national standards; consults with and serves as a clinical resource for management to ensure quality patient care.
• Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; continuous improvement of workplace safety and environment practices
• Educates clinical team members in the use of new equipment, supplies, and instruments coordinates in-service training and workshops for appropriate staff.
• Conducts evaluations of clinical team members through periodic audits and inspections to ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
• Works collaboratively with clinic managers to identify clinical knowledge deficiencies and conducts remedial and refresher training of clinical team members and clinic managers as needed.
• Reports knowledge or skills deficits observed by clinical team members which could potentially or actually lead to negative patient outcomes or compromise safety immediately to clinic managers.
• Provides Clinic Managers, Director of Operations Training, and Chief Medical Officer constructive suggestions for clinical improvement.
• Monitors clinical skill performance, documentation, and professional communication by clinical staff
• Works collaboratively with Regional Lab assistant to ensure proper maintenance of all laboratory equipment, proper documentation of QCs for all in-house lab tests, and the maintenance of Lab binders.

o Ranges printed for current Lot/CLEW of coinciding controls & cartridges
• Works collaboratively with Center Manager on the proper maintenance and operation of all clinic equipment
o Performs monthly equipment checklist and emails to CM, COO, and Director of Operations Training.
o Support CM by scheduling/identifying if annual maintenance is due
• Maintains Clinic Binders: RN/LVN only
o O2 monthly logs/room check logs filed in the binder and new logs placed
o Narcotic Log
Checks monthly that quantity & Lots #’s match the actual inventory log
Reports discrepancies immediately to Clinical Operations and Director of Operations Training
Maintains 222 Inventory & log with Center Manager
Maintains controlled substance inventory
• Med Room Maintenance
o Medication and vaccine refrigerator
Maintain manufacturer guidelines for ice wall buildup
Maintain appropriate medication storage, including lookalike/soundalike
o In-house med/E-dispense formulary
Current formulary poster per protocol
Maintain expiring medication log in Med room
Check Monthly Flu Vaccine inventory performed, and inventory count entered into Smartsheet.
o Reconcile in House e-dispense pharmacy medications
Check monthly that quantity & lot #’s match actual inventory and inline e-dispense inventory.
Check for expiring medication
• Crash Cart Monthly Maintenance
o Check medications & supplies for expiration, label accordingly
o Maintain equipment & Medication list in Exer Medical drive
o Cardiac Monitor function, confirm electrodes stickers expirations, lead integrity, BP cuff accuracy, BP cuff set (adult, child-size), confirm backstock printer paper available
o AED function (confirm backstock batteries, pediatric & backup adult pads)
o Suction Machine function confirms backstock replacement supplies.
• Performs any other task reasonably requested to help company meet its goals including:
o Meetings
o Disseminate information to clinical staff
o Create a cost-conscious culture
Coordinate with other Exer Urgent Care Clinics regarding multiple bottle medication orders, expiring supplies, etc. to avoid wasting.
• Encourage providers to use medication and supplies before expiration if applicable Works collaboratively with Regional Lab assistant to ensure proper maintenance of all laboratory equipment, proper documentation of QCs for all in-house lab tests, and the maintenance of Lab binders.
o I-STAT: Monthly Controls 1 & 3 (if clinic not running daily, clinic dependent)

Education/Qualifications
• Current ACLS, PALS, and BLS
• Current Medi-Waste Training for Bloodborne Pathogens for Healthcare, GHS Hazcom, HIPAA, HITECH & Omnibus
• Registered Nurse/ Licensed Vocational Nurse/ MA diploma (as applicable)
• Current Nursing license in the State of California
• High school diploma
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
• Must maintain a clean professional appearance at all times and adhere to our uniform guidelines
• Center Based: Requires working in a clinical setting. The noise level is moderate and there is a potential for exposure to infectious diseases and blood-borne pathogens as well as erratic/unpredictable patient behavior
• The ability to stand and sit for 5 hours at a time, (with some bending and stooping); ability to use manual dexterity in relation to clinical requirements; use hands to finger, key, handle, reach; some bending, kneeling and stooping; ability to bend; and ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to be punctual and maintain satisfactory attendance record
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends. Ability to work overtime should business need arise.
• This job requires access to confidential and sensitive information, requiring ongoing discretion and secure information management
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and ability to adjust and focus
• Must be able to hear and speak effectively in English
*TRAVEL REQUIREMENT
This position requires a significant amount of travel (i.e. 75%). Will be required to travel and work at Centers within a 35-mile radius of their home center.
