Position Summary
The Anesthesia Technician provides critical operational and technical support to the anesthesia and surgical teams at East Cooper Medical Center. This role is responsible for the preparation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of anesthesia equipment and the operating room environment, ensuring all equipment and supplies are ready, sterile, and functioning before each procedure. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, calm under pressure, and committed to patient safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, set up, and calibrate anesthesia machines, monitors, and related devices prior to each procedure.
- Clean, sterilize, and reprocess equipment in compliance with infection-control and facility standards.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions before and during procedures; coordinate with Biomed for repairs and replacements.
- Stock and manage anesthesia supply inventory; lead monthly inspections to identify and remove expired supplies.
- Assist with patient positioning for surgical procedures.
- Support the clinical team during anesthesia-related emergencies and maintain emergency equipment readiness.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; health-related training or Associate's degree preferred.
- 1+ year of experience in an OR, surgical, or anesthesia support environment.
- Knowledge of anesthesia equipment, sterilization techniques, and infection-control standards.
- Cer.A.T. or Cer.A.T.T. credential (ASATT) preferred but not required.
