We are seeking a Dispensing Pharmacist to join our team at Independent Living Systems (ILS). About the Role:
As a Dispensing Pharmacist, you will play an essential role in ensuring the safe and effective use of medications for patients within a community pharmacy setting. Your primary objective will be to dispense prescription medications accurately while providing expert advice on their proper use, potential side effects, and interactions. You will serve as a trusted healthcare professional, collaborating with members, healthcare providers, and pharmacy staff to optimize therapeutic outcomes. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements and pharmacy policies to uphold the highest standards of patient safety. Your role will also involve managing inventory, counseling patients on over-the-counter products, and contributing to health promotion initiatives within the community.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution.
- Valid and active pharmacist license in the state of practice within the United States.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacology, drug interactions, and pharmacy law.
- Experience with pharmacy management systems and electronic health records.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively counsel patients and collaborate with healthcare professionals.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in a retail pharmacy setting.
- Certification in immunization delivery (e.g., APhA Immunization Certification).
- Familiarity with medication therapy management (MTM) services.
- Additional training or certification in specialized areas such as diabetes education or anticoagulation management.
- Bilingual abilities to serve diverse patient populations.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately dispense prescription medications to patients and verify the validity of prescriptions.
- Provide comprehensive medication counseling to patients, including dosage instructions, potential side effects, and drug interactions.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify prescriptions and recommend alternative therapies when appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local pharmacy laws and regulations, including record-keeping and reporting requirements.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, stocking, and monitoring medication expiration dates.
- Supervise and train pharmacy technicians and support staff to maintain efficient pharmacy operations.
- Participate in health promotion and disease prevention programs, offering immunizations and wellness advice.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all professional interactions.
