We are recruiting for a Business Law Paralegal to join our team in our Vancouver or Calgary office. The successful candidate must have a minimum of four years of experience in corporate law and will be responsible for conducting due diligence searches for commercial and real estate transactions, reviewing and summarizing search results, coordinating searches across Canada, preparing PPSA registrations and related filings, and liaising with clients, agents, and internal teams. McCarthy Tétrault employees benefit from a hybrid work environment.

 

Salary Range (Vancouver Only): $60,000 - $70,000 annually

 

The offered salary may vary based on the candidate’s job-specific knowledge, skills, and experience.


As a Business Law Paralegal, you will be:

  • Providing independent professional support services as a member of the Vancouver Due Diligence Team to provide specialized due diligence support throughout the Firm by:
    • conducting due diligence for real property and commercial transactions including corporate registry, bankruptcy, personal property security registry, Bank Act security registry, land title, court registry (BC and federal), environmental, and municipal;
    • analyzing search results and preparing summaries and lists of issues;
    • coordinating searches throughout all jurisdictions in Canada;
    • preparing draft PPSA registrations, amendments and discharges;
    • providing fee quotes for due diligence matters;
    • keeping up to date on public registry requirements; and
    • liaising with clients, agents and counterparts in our other offices.
  • Assisting with other corporate matters, as required.
  • Maintaining the integrity of all record keeping systems.
  • Keeping current on changes in legislation and government policy and informing others as appropriate.
  • Examining and filing documentation online to the level of accreditation held and maintaining accreditation in good standing.

As our ideal candidate, you will distinguish yourself by the following profile:

  • College Degree/Certificate in Paralegal studies or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum four years of experience in corporate law.
  • 3. Minimum Level 2 Accreditation.
  • Knowledge of ecore is an asset.
