Job Description

Purpose: this position exists to provide broad technical and analytical expertise in all areas of inventory management, manufacturing planning, scheduling and internal company processes to facilitate the timely completion of various projects and the successful introduction of improved planning and scheduling procedures. The position prepares and maintains material plans and production schedules for assigned components and sub-assemblies to provide a smooth flow of matched sets of parts, enabling manufacturing to achieve the master production schedule.
 
Essential Functions:

  • Purchases production material to meet production needs.
  • Ensures the integrity & reliability of the inventory status database.
  • Recommend effective physical stock keeping levels.
  • Establishes and maintains appropriate order policies, lot sizes, lead times, etc.
  • Coordinates and communicates with Purchasing, Suppliers, Manufacturing and Master Scheduler regarding shortages, reschedules, shop schedules, cut lists, scrap/re-work or other quality problems and initiates corrective actions when necessary.
  • Communicates with suppliers to resolve quality, material issues, delivery and coordination of new products.
  • Determines the disposition and processes rejected material. (Return PO, Repair/Return, Scrap for credit)
  • Create/Review/Maintain regular reporting
    • Back Order, End of Day, Shortage reports
  • Performs data entry of new parts setup. 
  • Processes all supplier charge backs. (Separated from above)
  • Reviews sales order changes (+SIS Sheets) and determines availability of parts required to complete change orders while working to achieve a high level of off-line complete manufactured units.
  • Processes paperwork as required to support the materials management function including reprocessing orders due to BOM updates.
  • Determines and communicates starting/stopping points and the implementation of ECN/TCN due to shortages and product changes.
  • Facilitate production planning for side departments and master schedule.
  • Coordinates and maintains paint schedules of units and caps.
  • Assist Receiving with Delivery discrepancies. (over/under shipment).
  • Responsible for after-hour transfers (line to line).
  • Executes annual model change using above functions.
    • Determine resolution and process of obsolete material. (Salvage, return to vendor, etc.)
  • Possible coverage for like position.
  • Ability to accurately assist in the Relieving of units Offline, Shipping units in the system.
  • Assist/Lead in planning, organizing and directing physical counts and data entry activities required for Physical Inventory. (Subwip, open Minmax).

Experience / Knowledge:

  • Requires 5-7 years of related experience.
  • Requires knowledge of company products, manufacturing processes and closed-loop MRP II systems (including material and capacity planning, purchasing, inventory control and cycle counting.
  • College education and APICS certification is desirable.

Necessary Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with all personnel and suppliers.
  • Critical thinking skills and good organizational skills including ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work with a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy.

Work Requirements:

  • This position may require sitting, standing, working in front of a computer monitor in an office setting approximately 75% of the day and occasionally, working in a hot, humid manufacturing environment.
  • Requires ability to travel between field locations.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; use hands to fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Must be able to frequently lift and move up to ten pounds.
  • This position is a full-time position, which may require some flexibility in hours and days worked.
  • Regular attendance is a job requirement.
  • Remote work: not available. 
  • Supervisory responsibilities: TBD.
