Job Description
Works under the direct supervision of Substance Abuse Program Director.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Will provide routine substance abuse related program orientation, admission paperwork, internal audits, and provide other support to counseling staff as needed. Duties will involve consideration of clients and their families psychological, mental, social, emotional, physical, and safety needs. Position will include professionally greeting clients and their families, answering the telephone, directing calls and/or taking messages for staff. Will perform data entry as assigned and type professional documents as requested by supervisor and any other job duties assigned to assist with delivering substance abuse services. Maintain an accurate filing system and assist with reports. This position requires initiative, excellent public relations and communication, organizational skills, and the ability to interact in a professional manner with a variety of staff members, consumers, family members, and community agencies. Work is performed with minimal supervision within guidelines set forth by policies and procedures. HFC incorporates principles of trauma-informed care throughout the agency, emphasizing cultural sensitivity and a safe and respectful environment for all individuals served and staff. Education, Training, and Experience
Must have High School graduate or GED, plus one year experience working with individuals with substance abuse and/or mental health issues. Demonstrate working knowledge of basic mental health and substance abuse concepts. Must have valid driver’s license and be insurable to drive Center vehicles. Must pass and maintain all Center mandate trainings and all trainings required for certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must demonstrate well-developed communication, teaching, and interaction skills.
- Must demonstrate competency in obtaining and assessing clients and their families general status and the ability to document clinical observations in an appropriate manner via the system utilized by the Center and the department.
- Ability to write notes according to standard, memos, letters, and miscellaneous other documents with acceptable spelling and grammar.
- Flexibility and patience when dealing with adolescent and adult clients and their families.
- Ability to relate verbal instructions, communicate in a courteous and effective fashion with co-workers, consumers and families, agencies and the public.
- Display a customer service orientation; at all times treating customers as equals and partners.
- Skilled in the use of personal and network computers, word processing, database, spreadsheet and office management software (Microsoft Office), familiarity with CMBHS a plus.
