Receiving Lead
The Receiving Lead is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and efficient receiving and inventory control operations. This role plays a critical part in maintaining inventory accuracy, resolving discrepancies, and supporting operational efficiency, company profitability, and customer satisfaction. The Receiving Lead serves as a key point of communication between warehouse staff, supervisors, purchasing, and sales teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee daily receiving activities to ensure all inbound materials are received accurately and in a timely manner
- Verify shipments against purchase orders and packing slips, identifying and resolving discrepancies in quantities, product, or condition
- Accurately enter, update, and maintain inventory data within the company ERP system, including loading receipts and researching product information
- Conduct inventory audits and cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy and report variances
- Communicate clearly and professionally with supervisors, purchasing, sales teams, vendors, and warehouse staff to resolve receiving and inventory issues
- Safely operate forklifts and material-handling equipment; forklift experience and certification required
- Perform equipment safety checks and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly
- Maintain the ability to determine inventory status and location at any given time
- Train and support warehouse associates on proper receiving procedures and inventory best practices
- Process returns accurately and ensure proper documentation and system updates
- Assist in pulling, staging, and coordinating materials for delivery or customer pickup as needed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and secure receiving and storage area
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines in a drug-free workplace
- Present a neat, professional image at all times
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in receiving and inventory processes
- Prior forklift experience required; certification or ability to obtain certification
- Experience using inventory management software or ERP systems to receive product, research inventory, and pull reports
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills to effectively resolve discrepancies
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced warehouse environment
- Basic computer proficiency and comfort working with technology
