Reports to: Senior Director, Corporate Partnerships
Department: Development
Location: Points of Light is a remote-first organization. Must be based in a U.S. location in the Eastern or Central time zone in a market with a major airport. Washington, DC preferred.
Position Summary:
Points of Light has embarked on a strategic growth plan to expand corporate partnerships and accelerate revenue that increases volunteerism globally. Fee-for-service corporate partnerships are a central part of this strategy, enabling companies to activate their people, strengthen community impact, and engage in high-impact service through Points of Light’s trusted programs, advisory offerings, and Corporate Service Council membership.
Points of Light seeks an experienced, relationship-oriented Director, Corporate Partnerships (Fee-for-Service Focus) to grow and steward a portfolio of corporate partners through complex, deadline-driven engagements. This role is built for a seller-doer: someone who can translate partner goals into clear scopes of work, move opportunities through contracting efficiently, and coordinate internal delivery with confidence and precision.
The Director manages a portfolio and pipeline with an annual contracted revenue goal of approximately $2.5M–$4M, securing multi-year and project-based agreements across Points of Light’s fee-for-service offerings (e.g., corporate activations, advisory/consulting engagements, Corporate Service Council membership, and other revenue-generating partner solutions).
The right candidate will also have an understanding of Points of Light’s mission-based philanthropic work and investment opportunities, and be able to listen for when a fee-for-service partnership may be ready to expand into philanthropic support, recognize that alignment in real time, and seamlessly bring in the right internal partners to thoughtfully explore, scope, and steward that opportunity.
A fee-for-service background is a strong plus. The ideal candidate is highly organized, fast to respond, calm under pressure, and skilled at communicating complex offerings, budgets, timelines, and contractual terms in a way that makes it easy for partners and internal colleagues to say “yes” and execute well.
Position Functions and Responsibilities include:
Fundraising and Partnership Management:
- Portfolio Management: Own a portfolio of corporate partners and prospects, driving fee-for-service revenue through cultivation, solutioning, proposal development, contracting, renewal, and expansion. Manage timelines tightly, anticipating bottlenecks and moving work forward with urgency and professionalism.
- Relationship Building: Serve as the primary relationship manager for assigned accounts, ensuring partners feel supported, engaged, and set up for a strong experience. Cultivate and steward strong relationships with corporate partners to deepen engagement and alignment with Points of Light’s mission. Represent the organization in meetings, calls, and events that strengthen partnership visibility and impact.
- Proposal Development: Ability to understand corporate objectives, constraints, timelines, and decision-making pathways, then translate those inputs into the right Points of Light solution. Lead the development of high-quality, aesthetically pleasing proposals, concept papers, and decks for partners that clearly explain complex offerings and POL’s unique value proposition, ensuring clarity, alignment, and timely submission. Collaborate with the Senior Director, Corporate Partnerships, and cross-functional colleagues on larger or more complex opportunities. Partner with Finance, Programs, Marketing and Communications, and Research and Evaluation teams to prepare budgets, deliverables, and metrics that meet funder requirements and ensure accountability for grant or reporting outcomes.

- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues across Programs, Finance, Marketing and Communications, Development, and Research and Evaluation to ensure alignment, coordination, and timely delivery of partnership activities and reports.
- Customized Concepts: Collaborate with internal teams to develop tailored partnership concepts, proposals, and materials that connect corporate objectives with Points of Light’s mission and value proposition.
- Internal Alignment: Act as the internal “quarterback” for partner engagements: align internal stakeholders, clarify roles, keep workstreams on track, and ensure deadlines are met. Maintain a strong command of details across partner needs, internal capacity, and execution requirements, flagging risks early and proposing solutions. Ensure seamless handoffs between all parties, with a consistent partner experience and clear internal accountability.
- Leadership Engagement: Support the Senior Director, Corporate Partnerships and other leadership in preparing senior executives, program leads, and board members for engagement with key corporate partners.
- Strategic Insight: Stay current on corporate social impact, employee engagement, volunteering, and CSR trends with an eye toward what companies are investing in and why. Bring forward insights from partner conversations to help evolve Points of Light’s fee-for-service offerings, ensuring fundable experiences align with what partners value and are willing to resource. Support the team’s broader fee-for-service strategy by sharing learnings, patterns, and insights that improve performance across the portfolio.
Departmental Coordination:
- Process Optimization: Collaborate with internal teams to strengthen processes. Identify opportunities to streamline systems that improve efficiency and coordination across the Corporate Partnerships team and the broader POL enterprise.
- Data Accuracy, Reporting, and Accountability: Track and manage pipeline, renewals, and account activity in Salesforce with high discipline to support forecasting and visibility. Provide regular portfolio updates, revenue projections, and risk flags to the Senior Director, Corporate Partnerships.
- Assigned Projects: Lead or contribute to cross-departmental initiatives and special projects as assigned by the Senior Director, Corporate Partnerships or other leadership.
