Quality Assurance Nurse
Job Summary:
The Quality Assurance Nurse is responsible for overseeing and improving the quality of care provided to residents within the nursing home. They ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, develop quality improvement initiatives, and educate staff on best practices in patient care.
Responsibilities:
Quality Monitoring and Evaluation: Conduct regular audits and assessments of patient care processes and outcomes. Review medical records, documentation, and incident reports to identify areas for improvement. Analyze data to track trends, identify patterns, and measure the effectiveness of interventions. Regulatory Compliance: Stay current on federal, state, and local regulations governing nursing homes and long-term care facilities. Ensure that the facility meets or exceeds regulatory requirements related to patient care, safety, and quality of services. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement corrective action plans as needed.
Quality Improvement Initiatives:
Lead quality improvement projects aimed at enhancing patient outcomes, satisfaction, and safety. Develop and implement evidence-based protocols, policies, and procedures to standardize care practices. Foster a culture of continuous improvement by engaging staff in quality improvement activities and initiatives.
Staff Education and Training:
Provide education and training to nursing home staff on quality assurance principles, standards, and protocols. Offer guidance and support to ensure staff members understand and adhere to established policies and procedures. Promote teamwork, communication, and collaboration among staff members to enhance quality of-care delivery.
Risk Management:
Identify potential risks and safety hazards within the facility and develop strategies to mitigate them. Investigate adverse events, complaints, and sentinel events to determine root causes and prevent recurrence. Collaborate with risk management and legal teams to address liability issues and minimize exposure to litigation.
Qualifications
LVN or RN
