Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/metallurgical engineering or related field.
Experience
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in welding engineering, preferably in process equipment manufacturing or technology licensing.
Certifications
- CSWIP or equivalent welding certification is must
- Proficiency in Welding, Heat treatment and metallurgy
- Certifications in NACE and in API 571 / 577 / 580 is desirable
- Level II Certifications in PT, MT, RT and UT under ASNT is desirable.
Expertise / Proficiency & Skills
Mandatory Requirements: -
- Review of Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) for various materials (carbon steel, stainless steels, nickel alloys, etc.) used in licensed technologies to ensure compliance with ASME, API, and other applicable codes.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting to fabricators and EPC contractors during fabrication, Site commissioning and Shutdown.
- Advise on material selection and weldability for corrosive and high-temperature service conditions.
- Support technology development projects involving advanced welding techniques (e.g., GTAW, SAW, overlay welding).
- Ensure adherence to quality assurance and safety standards in welding operations.
- Strong knowledge of welding codes and standards (ASME Section IX, API, AWS).
- Experience with welding stainless steels, ferritic alloys, and nickel-based alloys
- Familiarity with corrosion mechanisms (API 571) and material behavior in chemical process environments.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work with global teams and travel to fabrication shops and project sites as required.
Preferences: -
- Certification as a Welding Engineer or Welding Inspector (e.g., AWS CWI, IIW)
- Exposure to technology licensing or EPC project execution.
