All about the role:
We are looking for an experienced Lead Developer to join our backend engineering team in Bangalore.
This is a hands-on development role with technical leadership responsibilities. You will work on a modern, high-volume payments platform supporting sales of sustainable consumer products in Europe and North America. The role is ideal for someone with strong backend engineering experience, solid payments domain knowledge and a desire to take ownership of business-critical systems in production.
What You’ll Do
Lead development of payment-related backend services.
Work hands-on with Kotlin, Ktor, asynchronous/reactive programming, MongoDB and PostgreSQL.
Work with Adyen integrations, including APIs, webhooks, stored payment methods and payment lifecycle events.
Work with a wide range of services to support payments such as integrated POS devices & subscription services.
Help ensure payment services are reliable, scalable, observable and maintainable.
Guide and mentor other developers through design discussions, code reviews and technical decision-making.
Who Are you:
Around 10 years of software development experience.
At least 5 years of experience in payments, ecommerce, fintech or transaction-heavy backend systems.
Strong hands-on experience with Kotlin.
Experience with Ktor, Kotlin coroutines, Project Reactor, Spring WebFlux or similar asynchronous/reactive technologies.
Previous experience integrating with Adyen or similar payment providers.
Strong experience with MongoDB and PostgreSQL.
Experience building and supporting production backend systems.
Good communication skills and the ability to guide other developers.
Desirable:
Experience with Adyen POS / terminal integrations.
Experience with omnichannel or subscription payment flows.
Experience with Kafka or event-driven systems.
Experience with Kubernetes or cloud-native environments.
Familiarity with observability tools such as Datadog, OpenTelemetry, OpenSearch or similar.
Experience with PCI-aware development, fraud handling, chargebacks or payment security.
