Sustainment Project Manager

Job Description

In this role, you will:

 

Manage an array of projects in support of the sustainment of Canada’s fleet of Victoria Class Submarines. These projects vary from modifications to the submarines through to management of new process initiatives in support of the wider Submarine Enterprise.
Be responsible to the Sustainment Projects Team Senior Manager for the delivery of your assigned projects.
Execute the project management lifecycle from beginning to end stages.
Lead the planning, execution, and close-out of project activities.
Manage project scope, deliverables, schedule and change to achieve project outputs.
Develop and lead the implementation of project management plans.
Manage costs and budgets, through effective engagement with project stakeholders.
Monitor and report on progress of the project to appropriate stakeholders through performance management tools.
Coordinate stakeholders and subcontractors to deliver on project commitments.
Ensure that active risk and opportunity management is employed to reduce the impact on schedule and develop recovery plans when issues arise.
Develop and maintain a close working relationship with project customers and stakeholders.
Assist with the development of sub-contracts with sub-contract managers in support of the assigned projects.
Ensure compliance with all working practices within the project, paying particular attention to corporate procedures, safety standards, and local project specific procedures as necessary.
Ensure all Quality and Health & Safety standards are maintained and communicate Health and Safety issues as required.
Other duties as assigned.

 

 

The ideal candidate brings:

 

4+ years of experience successfully managing small to medium complexity projects with multiple stakeholders, preferably within the Naval or Marine sector.
A recognized University Degree or College diploma in Project Management or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
A Project Management Professional (PMP) certification in good standing with the Project Management Institute (PMI).
Technical knowledge and experience, preferably within the Naval or Marine sector.
Positivity, resilience, and focus.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products.
Eligible for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance.
