Job Description
In this role, you will:
Internally champion the use, understanding, and adherence to the MatCert related customer requirements documents including but not limited to the most current approved version of the C-23-VIC-000AG & AM.
Organize, and handle the Customer Audits (IV&V), from audit planning to resolution and closing, as per internal dedicated process.
Interpret Department of National Defence (DND) material certification requirements and take the steps necessary to prepare and present the material state reports needed at milestone Materiel Certification events.
Drive the solution of materiel status issues during the EDWP process to achieve the materiel certification accuracy at the point of certification.
Conduct and communicate preliminary Aggerate Risk Assessment to capture holistic risks to submarine systems.
Coordinate the collation, interpretation, and presentation of the material status of given submarine as per customer requirements.
Manage ND submissions and updating processes to update the customer system of record (DRMIS) and ensure accuracy.
Highlight gaps and discrepancies on materiel certification documents, as detected, to appropriate internal and external stakeholders and advocate effectively for appropriate resolution.
Develop the necessary work instructions for MatCert team to assure key activities.
Mentor Jr MatCert employees on complex activities, customer requirements and company procedures.
Provide constructive feedback to stakeholders regarding common shortfalls in MatCert related / provided documentation.
Provide mentoring to applicable stakeholders in the use of MatCert Procedures.
Support drafting Materiel certification deliverables.
Other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate brings:
An accredited technical college diploma, or an acceptable combination of training and 8 years’ experience performing similar work.
Diploma of Technology, Certificate of Technology, or equivalent experience and is registered as an Applied Science Technologist or Certified Technician with the applicable provincial association.
Experience working in DND’s DRMIS or similar SAP application.
Practical experience with technical documentation review/analysis and with quality assurance processes.
A demonstrated knowledge of marine systems and/or submarine technical experience.
A high degree of understanding of submarine systems from hull, mechanical, electrical, and combat systems, and be able to assess whether the results and quality evidence are sufficient to support certification.
Understanding of submarine First Level (safety critical) technical documentation.
Eligibility for a Canadian Secret Security, Controlled Goods and ITAR Clearance.
