Job Summary
This role is responsible for performing activities associated with analyzing, forecasting, and reporting related to sales and revenue activity for Dominion Energy South Carolina “DESC”. This function is critical in support of regulatory proceedings, financial planning, and long-term strategic planning.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Support business & data analytics-related activities, such as Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) analytics.
- Analyze sales and revenue results to support monthly variance explanations.
- Maintain, enhance, and develop analytic tools, data processes and methods to analyze and present load forecast results.
- Develop a detailed understanding of, as well as participate in advancement of company’s forecasts and methodologies, including statistical end-use models and exogenous models such as building & transportation electrification, distributed energy resources (DER) and data centers.
- Develop statistical models to build or improve forecasting for components including DER.
- Mine large volumes of historical billed and unbilled data (including AMI data) and transform that data into useful information that will help explain revenue variances and customer electric usage over time.
- Manage end‑to‑end development and reporting of weather data used in forecasting and performance analysis.
- Establish strong collaborative relationships with key stakeholder groups and individuals throughout the company.
- Understand, evaluate, and incorporate internal initiatives and external factors, as appropriate, into the strategic planning process across all DE businesses.
- Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
2-3+ years of relevant experience analyzing complex data and solving data-driven problems, with one year working with large datasets. of knowledge of business information research, analytical methods, and statistics. Note: A Master's degree will count as one year towards the experience requirement. A partial year of six months or more experience will be rounded up to one year.
Specific knowledge, skills, abilities and experience:
- Experience with forecasting and statistical analysis is desirable
- Proficiency in one or more of the following languages: R, Python, and/or SAS
- Strong data science and extract/transform/load (ETL) skills, e.g., importing, cleaning, transforming, modeling, and visualizing data
- Working knowledge of relational database concepts and SQL
- Strong mathematical and statistical capabilities
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge of utility econometric forecasting is desirable but not required
- Demonstrated ability to both think analytically and solve complex problems
- Ability to process information quickly and effectively, and manage multiple tasks
- Excellent organization and interpersonal skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proven ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Experience working with electric smart meter/AMI data is a plus but not required
- Basic familiarity with electrical power system concepts
Education Requirements
Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: bachelor’s degree in Data Science/Decision Analytics, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Science, Business Administration.
