
Construction Project Manager I/II/III - Solar Construction Quality Assurance (Richmond, VA)
Job Description
Job Summary
The Solar Project Construction group manages the execution of solar projects from 1MW to 150+MW through Engineer-Procure-Construct (EPC) contracts. The group is organized into several sequential teams, Development, Diligence, Pre-Construction, Execution, and Close-Out. One Project Manager is needed to support oversight of specific contractor Quality Assurance/Quality Control activities during construction of new solar projects to ensure quality program adherence.
Job Duties
- Supporting the solar project management team by observing specific quality inspections performed by the contractor’s quality personnel.
- Managing an Owner’s Non-Conformance Report (NCR) log and associated Corrective Actions.
- Managing an Owner’s Quality matrix rating contractor’s quality program.
- Coordination with internal stakeholders including Site Owner’s Representatives, Operations, PV Engineering SMEs, Environmental, and Safety.
- Coordination with external stakeholders, including counterparts in the EPC’s organization, component manufactures and Owners Engineers.
- Participation in status update meetings with EPC contractors and DE site teams
- Overseeing and monitoring specific construction progress, ensuring compliance with EPC contract, OEM requirements, and Codes / Standards.
- Overseeing specific plant commissioning processes and participating in turnover walkdowns with Solar Operations.
- Reviewing third party quality reports to monitor EPC performance and providing recommendations to the DE site teams
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
Level will be commensurate with the successful candidates’ education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Experience with infrared scanning and similar inspection method processes, equipment, reporting, and analysis
- 5+ years of experience in managing complex and high-impact projects in the same or related domain and delivering value to the organization and stakeholders.
- Familiarity with FLIR equipment and software
- Detailed technical knowledge of renewable power generation, large power plant systems/equipment/operations, DC power distribution systems and/or complex construction projects.
- Technical skills, including the ability to read and prepare technical specifications and electrical drawings.
- Strong understanding of thermography principles, Level II thermography is preferred.
- Strong communication and integration skills
- Ability to build relationships and provide leadership in a team environment
- Ability to analyze information and make sound decisions
- Valid driver’s license in order to operate a company vehicle
- Demonstrated computer skills, including Microsoft Office products, SAP products, Adobe products, Bluebeam, scheduling software
