TITLE: Modeling Solutions Engineer
EMPLOYER: AES Clean Energy Services, LLC
LOCATION: New York, NY (100% remote work allowed. Up to 20% travel for in-person meetings/site visits)
DUTIES: Develop theoretical models of renewable energy systems based on basic principles of physics, chemistry and engineering. Work with Subject Matter Experts to translate the domain specific calculations (often in Excel) into python code and facilitate the integration into the company-wide cloud-based modeling platform. Validation and communication of results to relevant stakeholders. Help maintain Python based modeling tools within cloud-based integrated modeling platform application. Work with the team to write and maintain documentation and user guides of the developed models. Train and assist users on supported models and tools. Assist on various aspects of economic optimization of engineering designs and provide design direction for non-standard projects. Assist on data analysis/data science projects.
REQUIREMENTS: Master’s in engineering (any field), physics, or a related field.
Job requires experience in each of the following:
- Established renewable energy technologies including Solar PV, Wind and Li-Ion Batteries
- Modeling experience in Python, MATLAB, or R demonstrating power flow through components and how to quantify equipment in a design.
- DC Circuits, AC Circuits, Power conversion systems
- Data analysis, validation, and presentation (data cleaning, correlation, linear regression, visualization technical writing including documentation, reports, and white papers
- Experience with green H2, non-Li-Ion BESS, ESS beyond batteries, Geothermal, concentrated solar power, thermal energy storage, Microgrids.
Experience can be gained through any combination of work experience, coursework and/or academic pursuit.
SALARY: The expected salary for this position, at commencement of employment, is between $120,350 –
$148,325 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors,
including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package
for this position also includes annual bonus. The benefits offered for this position are: medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, 401(k) eligibility, and paid time off (including vacation, sick leave time, and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if a candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
