License & Title Specialist

Position Summary

Mercedes-Benz of Richmond/Midlothian is seeking a detail-oriented and organized License & Title Specialist to join our accounting and administrative team. This position is responsible for processing vehicle titles and registrations, ensuring compliance with DMV requirements, maintaining accurate records, and supporting dealership operations through timely and accurate documentation.

The ideal candidate will have prior dealership title experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Process title and registration paperwork for new and used vehicle sales.
  • Submit title applications and supporting documentation to the DMV on time.
  • Verify accuracy and completeness of sales contracts, title applications, odometer statements, and supporting documents.
  • Process lien recordings, releases, and title corrections.
  • Monitor title inventory and follow up on outstanding title issues.
  • Maintain accurate title logs and records.
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, manufacturer, and dealership requirements.
  • Work closely with sales, finance, accounting, and customers to resolve title and registration issues.
  • Process temporary tags and registrations as required.
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding title and registration status.
  • Assist with audits and internal compliance reviews.
  • Perform other administrative and accounting support duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous automotive dealership title clerk experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Virginia DMV title and registration procedures strongly preferred.
  • Experience with dealer management systems such as Tekion, CDK, or Reynolds & Reynolds is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
