Responsible for the supervision of maintenance crews. Documents, implements, and maintains departmental policies practices and procedures to ensure safe reliable Plant Operations. | Key Accountabilities |
|
RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
- Assist Department management in planning and organizing resources (human & equipment) needed to deliver the department’s objectives.
- Participates in the development of maintenance service agreements with customers and contractors.
- Ensure that the received data, drawings, and documentation concerning engineering and maintenance from Project Contractors and Vendors are complete as per project contract specifications.
- Manages assisting the maintenance team in case of emergency repairs / critical inspections and ensures documentation of work completed.
- Ensures technical proposals for outsourced maintenance services with clear scope of work for routine or down day / shutdown maintenance activities are developed, reviewed, and approved.
PROBLEM SOLVING
- Conducts schedules and/or routine inspections on plants or projects sites to track progress.
- Investigate potential and identified problems to find cost effective solutions when approved and monitor results.
- Supports the development and implementation of mechanical maintenance reliability program and procedures.
- Leads the Root Cause Analysis of repeated major failures to ensure continuous improvement.
- Troubleshoots mechanical problems in the plant and proposes solutions.
- Directly supervises emergency repairs.
PLANNING AND PRIORITIZATION
- Manage maintenance teams.
- Review schedules and timeframes for all projects and machinery, preventive maintenance and testing and inspections.
- Manage chronic Failure Elimination/Root Cause Analysis (RCA) studies, follow through with assigned engineers’ action items and drive the implementation of recommendations with concerned parties.
- Maintain close monitoring of all maintenance crews job activities, records progress against established timelines until completion.
- Plan and prioritize work activities to ensure cost effectiveness within budget.
- Ensure that all resources, systems, procedures and required equipment/parts are onsite for emergencies and scheduled work activities.
- Ensures all relevant engineering standards and procedures are always adhered to.
- Conducts regular meetings with Maintenance and Production Teams to coordinate activities and prioritize planned maintenance works.
- Supports the development of maintenance KPI’s.
- Ensures ALL Performance KPI targets including Safety KPIs are met.
- Provides input for the annual maintenance and capital spares planning budgets.
Plant and Equipment Availability
- Ensure all company physical assets are kept in good running order, for example vehicles, machinery and tools.
- Recommends new equipment, tools or machinery deemed necessary to improve plant conditions and boost plant production output.
- Identifies critical spare parts and specialized tools and ensures their availability in compliance with the reliability centered maintenance program.
- Supports the development of specifications and supplier lists for spare parts.
Leadership – Training & Coaching
- Manage staff in setting individual objectives, managing performance, developing, and motivating staff to achieve timely completion of the group requirements within the allocated budget and company overall objectives.
- Develop, guide, motivate and cross-train department multi-cultural staff to build a versatile team of high caliber technicians who can efficiently and effectively handle the maintenance needs of MWSPC.
- Identify training requirements for Technicians and Engineers and organize on-the-job training programs.
- Manages on-site and off-site, hands-on mentorship to newly hired/newcomers or existing maintenance personnel that includes training, coaching and guidance for execution of work controls and maintenance processes.
- Create a working environment and culture which engages all plant staff.
- Manage staff and develop future leaders for the plant and the company.
- Assists with the recruitment of experienced and competent maintenance engineers and technicians.
Health, Safety and Environmental
- Promote a culture of “Safety First” as reflected by low accident and incident rates.
- Ensure implementation of the operational EHSS Management System to ensure all MWSPC staff observe standard EHSS processes and operating procedures.
- Participates in Emergency Response and Command activities as required.
- Ensures that all mechanical personnel and contractors are fully briefed and trained on MWSPC’s EHSS regulations and adhere with them.
- Participate in the investigation of work accidents/incidents ensuring the effective implementation of the MWSPC's safety policies.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. |
