Carrier Relations Analyst IIThe Carrier Relations Analyst II provides advanced analytical, operational, and supplier‑management support to Niagara’s transportation procurement strategy. This role serves as a key regional liaison between procurement, operations, and carrier partners, ensuring alignment on capacity, service, cost, and contractual expectations. The Analyst II independently leads mid‑complexity sourcing events, drives supplier performance management, and develops insights that influence strategic decisions. This position supports the Procurement Manager by executing components of the category strategy, improving supplier relationships, and identifying opportunities that enhance service, reduce cost, and strengthen network efficiency.
Essential Functions
- Serve as the primary regional point of contact for carrier partners, managing communication, performance tracking, and issue resolution
- Support short-term and tactical transportation capacity sourcing through data-driven carrier engagement
- Track, analyze, and communicate carrier Key Performance Indicators to ensure service and contractual compliance
- Communicate daily sourcing needs to carriers while optimizing utilization of contracted capacity
- Prepare, compile, and evaluate carrier performance summaries to support carrier meetings and quarterly business reviews
- Identify cost-saving and efficiency opportunities by analyzing carrier pricing, capacity, and service trends
- Develop recommendations for supplier and process improvements based on performance data and operational results
- Collaborate with transportation, planning, and supply chain teams to support regional transportation initiatives
- Support the onboarding, training, and development of new carriers by ensuring data, pricing, and capacity requirements are aligned
- Monitor carrier pricing, capacity changes, and market conditions to support sourcing decisions
- Support department strategy through data collection, reporting, and participation in procurement projects and initiatives
- Contribute to procurement initiatives by serving as a project team member or project lead for assigned transportation projects
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications:

Competencies
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
- Experience with Oracle (OTM) preferred
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets
- Ability to manage multiple sources of information and make timely, independent decisions
- Intermediate understanding of cost drivers, financial impacts, and scenario modeling
- Ability to lead medium‑complexity sourcing events and evaluate supplier proposals
- Strong written and verbal communication skills tailored to various audiences, including leadership
- Anticipates stakeholder needs and proactively provides updates
- Works autonomously and influences suppliers to take action
- Assesses issues from multiple angles and identifies root causes
- Helps leads problem‑solving efforts with suppliers and the internal teams
- Leads tactical negotiations and understands negotiation levers and terminology to include evaluating short and long-term implications of agreements
- Supports the manager by leading key category management activities
- Acts as a subject‑matter contributor for regional category needs
- Evaluate supplier strengths/weaknesses to support strategic engagement and drives corrective actions
Education
